My new Magnificent Magnifica!

I have found in my efforts to purchase a healthy magnifica that there is an"empty" look that comes before death. I don't know how to describe it well, but the anemone looks hollow. I saw in your first post that the anemone had that hollow look .... I didn't say anything , becuase it is just a personal opinion and you had already bought it. Typically by the time they have the hollow look, they are already in the inflate/deflate phase and well on there way out.

Before you buy your next one make sure to first see a healthy specimen in person. A healthy mag will look meaty... for lack of better description...

I hate to say that I agree with E.J. Especially in the fifth photo down how it looks like you can see into the tentacles. I'm guessing the inner layer of tissue has separated from the outer and has left just a shell like a glove with no finger in it (or more accurately, maybe a glove without the inner liner). There might be nothing you can do at this point, but I hope I'm proven wrong.

gravity 1.025
temp 80 -82
ammonia 0
ph 8.0-8.2 (morning-night)
nitrite 0
nitrate 5

400w mh 14k
1 96 w blue
1 96w actinic/10k

I've done several WC and ran carbon for 3 days. The most I've run the MH is 3 hours. It is at the bottom of the tank not fully expanded. I've tried changing the flow. It doesn't look good. It's been 6 days. Do I just wait? Will it harm the tank if it dies?
Thanks for all your help. You have beautiful, healthy anemones.

Just keep an eye on it.... Your PH seem to be off a little Maybe you shouldn't do so many water changes because it could stress the anemone more than if you didn't. It is trying to get used to your system so just keep an eye on it.

These guys are heartbreakers more often than not. They can cause a huge amonia spike when they die, they are big critters. Watch for signs of desolving and have a way to siphon out goo if it does start to go. I can't help deciding when to take it out and give up without being there. Let us know its progress, we'll keep our fingers crossed.

on its way out :(

Ever heard of the phrase "just curl up and die" well, I think that is what is happening right now. It has deflated, curled up into itself, and its tentacles shriveled up to nothing. My poor clowns are standing by him no matter what trying to cheer it back up. I'm thinking of taking out before it dissolves... any thoughts?

Adi,
Sorry about your anemone. Better luck next time.
The red carpet in your avatar, is it your? Do you still have it?
