my new Osmolator - questions?

I just set up my Osmolator last night. I originally had the pump in the sump and just drained tank water below the sensor to see if it worked and it did. I then set up a 1/2 gal of water in a small (not deep) tub and moved the pump to the bowl. This AM the light said "too low" but the pump never kicked in (at least the water level was unchanged). This brings a couple of questions to mind..

1 - does the pump need to be completely submerged below water?
2 - does the pump need to be primed in some way?
3 - Is it possible to to use a timer on the unit so that it runs only from say 1 AM until midday (like 1-2PM)? That way I could dose Kalk when the PH would be lowest or dropping.

Thanks!

IPT,
I find that I have to prime my pump. When I fill my resivoir with RO/DI water I make sure I turn my pump upside down while it is running so all of the air will come out of the pump and water is drawn in,otherwise the pump will run until the controller times out and no water is pumped into the display.
I think it is best if the pump stay submerged, and I have no clue about using a timer on the osmolator.

Hope that helps some,

Kevin

1. Yes
2. No
3. Yes.

You may need to prime the pump, often it has air in side and you simply have to tip the pump upside down under water while it is running to get the air out and let it fill with water.

I generally advise against using a timer. It defeats the 10 minute time out as every time it kicks off you reset the timer. The unit when properly installed doses so little at a time that the pH change from kalkwasser would be negligible.
