My New SPS Reef

Boa Noite!!!

Muita Paz

Terrific blog of your build Roberto. I had to go back to page one and read the entire thread. The siporax is surprising to me. I got some with a nano I bought a few years ago and quickly gave it away. I have a difficult time wrapping my head around your biological filtration. When I first started reading I anticipated a sump crammed with live rock. I suspect that your oversized skimmer has a lot to do with your success. Love the thread. I look forward to future updates. Great polyp extension too!

Hi Chessmanmark,

This setup is a bet that I did. Without sand bed, without LV, just a good skimmer, good flow, siporax and a good maintenance.

Today the po4 and no3 is zero and I´m feeding more than in the old reef.

The time will show us if I ´m right or not

Best Regards

Well , look to this pic, the bulbs here was with 10 months old. Work for me.

But here my photoperiod is just 6 / 8 hs daily

thnks for the answer denadai
now i'll use my t5HO until 12 month like you
hope its work too for me :D
btw you have japonicus in your tank, are that fish got a biological space ?
and are you don't got trouble from it fish poo ?

Denadai, speaking about the siporax again, would can put in to a reactor?, as biopellets or resines?, or is better in a mesh bag as you?

Looks like it has proven already! You are almost there. Keep up the good work!

He is ok here, I have a strong flow now and fish poopy won´t be a problem, also the corals can eat

I don´t like to put in a reactor because is easier to clog. I think in a mesh bag is ok

Your results are phenomenal! I am very impressed with the simplicity of your system and the results you are achieving.

Can you illustrate how your auto top off tank works? I am currently planning a 50 gallon system and am interested in incorporating this feature.

I would assume that it works with a float valve. When evaporation occurs - the water in the sump goes down thus causing in the float valve to sink. This in turn opens up the valve to release water (fresh water) into the sump. The valve is closed once the correct water level is achieved.

This means you always have the corre correct SG.

Think of flushing the WC and you are on the right track.

I assume this is correct?

Great job, amazing colors! I really like the minimalistic aquascape! Keep it up!

Thank you :celeb1:

Yes, you are right. Very simple :
