my percula breeding log!

Joe ,On every hatch there are a certin # of fish that do not form right. They will die the night of the hatch.I do not count these fish I just get em out and count the fish that are left. Then, I keep track of how many live and die......To get better hatches...Feed better{mom & dad}/Use fresh saltwater/Lower salinity/Play with bubble size and rate/ Feed Mom & Dad better, Feed Mom & Dad better, Feed Mom & Dad better, Feed Mom & Dad better, Feed Mom & Dad better,

Isn't that the truth. I would never go to the trouble of preparing a meal like this for myself. LOL

I've heard that they don't develop their mouths for a couple of days so I'm not sure if soaking them in anything will make them more nutritious because they can't eat.

Would that be like eating a big mac with your jaw wired shut....lol

Nauplii start feeding about 12 hours after hatch. Prior to that, selcon will coat them to a degree.

Isn't day 4 too early for BBS? I started my last batch on BBS on day 6 and had 2 die. Your Percs must be smaller I would think...

Update:

After about 9 weeks I have 75 or so beautiful orange Occelaris and day 10 I have about 100 growing!

Tonight is a new batch and it looks to be a ton?

I have learned that my rotifers like Nannochloropsis Algae Paste "Greenwater and ever since I have been using it my rotifers have thrived..I have discontinued live phytoplankton for the moment!

question can I put 2 or 3 different groups of ocellaris in the same tank? Im thinking of putting them all in a 47 gallon at 8+weeks until they are sold?
good or bad idea?

I put 5 that were 4 weeks apart from my first batch in with them without issue. I've been told its ok. Mine are fine so far so I'm going to say yes at least in the short term. Time will tell as they age.. I'm going to put a divider in my 30 gal before adding the 150 that will be going to growout in a couple weeks.

THANKS ALOT rkelman!

also I put the tile in my tank a few days ago and before I got it back in she has already laid another batch on a different tile? Is this normal to do it that quick?

also day 3 on my new batch and I have had about a 90% survival rate so far!

How many days between hatching and laying? When I take the tile out I replace it immediately with another. 90% is awesome for 3 days. You are way ahead of me. I'm told Black Occs have low survival rates to begin with so I'm not too worried about it. Good work though. You must be doing something right :)
