My plan of a 125 gallon build

Added two new fish today.

An Auriga Butterfly

The butterfly fish didn't do well in the freshwater/methylene blue dip. It went stiff on me after less than one minutes. The angel did much better in its 5 min bath.

Hopefully the UV sterilizer keeps them healthy. I did modify the plumbing of the UV sterilizer by doubling its flow thru it.

It didn't take long for the butterfly fish to find service in the tank - a cleaning station.:bounce3: Here is a video of the butterfly fish got cleaned by the cleaner shrimp

My decision to add a Auriga Butterfly fish to my tank was a nightmare to my corals. I should have done more research on whether the fish is reef safe. My clam refuses to open up, my acan just shrivelled up, and many LPS just contracted.

I had no choice but to take the butterfly fish out last night. The LFS was kind enough to let me trade that in for what they have in the store which wasn't much of a selection. I ended up getting a Half Black angel and a Flaming Scallop as a trade.

Here is a picture of the Flaming Scallop. Beautiful bright red color. I hope I have enough PhytonPlankton to keep it alive.

An escaping scallop video. Take a look at the video and watch the scallop escape from the approaching blue tang. I was amazed at the speed it can run:)

Did you ever get your new pump? How is your Regal doing with the ICH?

Reeflo did send me a new Blowhole 1450 pump with improved core. It runs a lot cooler and almost dead silent in low and medium speed. I am very pleased with it.

The Regal tang is doing fine and no sign of ich on its body. May be the UV sterilizer did help also. I ran it about 18 hrs per day. I also fed garlic soaked nori strip to the tang which helps strengthen its immune system. The cleaner shrimp probably plays a part in this too. Anyway, I am glad the fish is doing fine.:bounce1:

I spent all day trying to catch the butterfly fish yesterday using nets and trap. Guessed what I caught repeatedly?

I finally was able to corral the butterfly fis into this trap

drukkosz, sorry to hear that. That was where I ordered it from. May be you can google it to find out who has it. My original plan was to create a shadowbox as a background but when I saw the Seascape film I thought that was a good alternate.

A local reefer is taking down his 125g tank and I got it from him. Took a while to catch it but it was worth it.

After a long and rational debate with myself:lol2:, I pulled the trigger and got my second new MP40WEs. I was planning to get a used one but the asking price was closed to that of a new one and they were snatched up in a hurry in RC used equipment forum:(

I had a bad experience with a Auriga Butterfly fish nipping or eating my LPS so I was a little worry about the Foxface but it turns out she does not bother any of my corals:bounce3:.

The alkalinity in my tank is a little low right now (~7.5 KH) and I have to add about 10ml of sodium carbonate solution each day to boost it up. Is there anything else that I can do to raise alkalinity? My calcium is fine at around 420 so I don't want to increase the output from my calcium reactor.
