Simon - you still like that BH1450? I was thinking of scrapping my quietone4000 (not so quiet) for the BH850 or 1150 model.

Definitely yes. It is quiet, efficient and really can move the water. Most of all the price is right and it is part of the Reeflo system so they stand behind the product. The customer service is excellent. The original pump that I had was a little noisy so I sent an email to Reeflo and they just replaced the pump with the newest ceramic impeller without even asking me for credit card info. I just had to send the old pump back within 30 days after getting the replacement pump. They even paid for the postage for the returned pump. That's trust.

The only thing that may be against the BH pump is the lack of long term reliability data. So far I have not seen any complaint in any of the RC forums and the pumps have been out for almost a year.

Drukkosz, the full tank shot didn't change much since my 9/18 post but I will post some close up shots of the corals from my iPhone from yesterday.

What product/solution do you use to attach your frag plugs to your reefscape? Looks like a putty/epoxy.

Your system looks great. Appreciated your feedback on the eShine fixture over the summer. I've had it over my system for around 4 months. Great coloration and growth of my corals.

I am new to the forum and to the hobby and i must say going through this thread was a jaw dropping experience for me. Your tank just looks awesome! You have amazing skills indeed. I have decided to start a 125 gallon build also and would like to get the same LED lights as you did. When you ordered the CREE's, did the controllers come included with them? Apparently they have them on clearence right now for like $535 for 2 units. They are the 4G 48X3W LED Aquarium light - CREE

Ed, I am glad you have good experience with the Eshine light. As far as attaching corals to the reefscape I use plumber epoxy putty (you can find it in Menards for about $5) and super glue. I first attached the frags to a small piece of live rock with super glue and then use epoxy putty to attach the live rock to the main rock.

tassod, thanks for the compliment. Yes, the controller came with the light. The controller was quite over priced in my opinion but it is necessary to have the sunrise/sunset effect. If you can get the same light with controller for less than $275 each, I would jump on the deal. I would buy the same light again, especially for that price.

Just want to share my thought on Marineland Corner-flo features.

My 125 gallon tank has two corner-flos, each is rated to handle a max of 700gph flow rate. Each drain pipe has a piece of air tubing at the top to prevent full siphon as a full siphon can easily exceed 700 gph for a 1.5" pipe.

The corner-flo has a removable front panel which as you can see has a large lower grille and a top skimmer grille. The large lower grille collects water from the lower middle water column

Here is my problem with the corner-flo

You can see there is plenty of water coming from the lower grilles but little to no water thru the skimmer grilles. The water level is higher than the bottom of the skimmer grille but the "teeth" kind of prevent the water from coming thru.

If I remove the panel, there is good amount of water coming thru but I lose pulling water from the lower middle section of the tank.

What if I cut out the center portion of the "teeth"? Thoughts and suggestions on how I can get good skimming at the top. Increase water flow rate to the DT tank can help by raising the water level but that also introduces a lot of gurgling and noise as it exceeds the 700gph limit. The drain will go in and out of siphon creating a lot of noise:crazy1:

From these pictures it seems like I got the exact same 125g tank with the 2 corner-flo's but mine is missing the bulkheads and pipe kits. Would you know where i could find these online? If not, what size bulkheads and PVC fittings would i need to make these?

tassod, if you bought the tank new, two corner flo kits should have been included. If not you should contact the dealer who sold you the tank or contact Marineland on how to get them. The bulkheads were 1.5" as far as I can remember.

It was purchased from another member of this forum. I will try to contact MarineLand but it seems from the research i did on their website, they steer customers to order these from their local dealers. This is going to be fun...
