My plan of a 125 gallon build

Great thread Simon! I have skimmed through this a couple times before, looking at the pics, but just read through the whole thing. It was really nice to see all the steps along the way. Your tank looks stunning for sure. I am picking up a 125 on Wednesday, and will be referring to your build quite a bit during the set up, so thank you for sharing and being so thorough. I cant wait to get over that way, some time soon, and see it first hand.

Simon, you have quite an amazing tank and your pics are just awesome. I really appreciate the help you have been giving me with my tank build as well.

Thank you all for the nice compliments! It sure makes it all worthwhile when my works is appreciated by fellow reefers who share the same passion. I am honored!

I did. I still have some left for sale.

I had replied that I wish i was local and that I would definitely buy some from you. Somehow though when i refreshed the page, this post ended up somewhere different then the page you had posted the items for sale. :lmao:

Beautiful setup Simon! I will be ordering the same tank tomorrow and upgrading from my RSM 130d. The info you posted in this build is a great resource, hope you don't mind if I borrow some ideas! I did have one question, I didn't see what skimmer you were running? I would stock my tank bi-load wise pretty similar. Thanks!

zalmaxiss, thanks for the compliment. I run a BM NAC7 protein skimmer. Please feel free to ask me any question. I will do my best to share what I know.

Simon, I noticed in your sig you have a Maxspect LED. Is it on your 92? I have been window shopping for LEDS for my 125 build as well. The Maxspect Razors look like they may fit the bill. How is the quality of the Maxspect brand?

My Maxspect is the second generation LED from 2010. It is still going strong. The Razor is 4th generation and is a great light. I believe you will need two of the 27" 160W models for your 125g. Quality is definitely top notch.

Yep, thats what I figured I would need. I will start a build thread as soon as my new floors are in!

zalmaxiss, you definitely will not go wrong having Simon guide you in your build. He has guided me every step of the way for my 125 gallon build and everything has turned out amazing, i could not be happier with my tank. I don't think I would have succeeded as well without Simon's help!

Tell me about it! You wouldn't happen to be an engineer by trade Simon? Did you use Pro-E for those drawings? I picked up a skimmer today for my set up. Its a Bashsea Blu Demon 6-24 with a sicce psk 1000 pump. Only big piece of equipment left to decide is return pump. The more research I do the more I like that Reeflo Blow Hole.

My math in high school was my weakest subject so I gave up being an engineer. I am a pharmacist by trade. The program that I used was SketchUp, a free program from Google. I think the BlowHole 1450 is the perfect pump for a 125g.

Pharmacist eh? Me too Simon, build looks awesome!

How about that? A fellow pharmacist who is also interested in reefing. What a great combination:celeb1: We know all about calcium, magnesium, phosphate....., right?:headwalls: Where are you located 240drift?

Not a pharmacist but I do work with water and the make up of it. I add phosphate to bind calcium at work. Calcium and Mag loves to make scale in boilers, thus I must rid of it! Totally opposite of what I do in my reef!
