My Polythoa Zoanthids are getting more hairy

I am hoping I spell this right. My Polythoa Zoanthids are getting more hairy.

I have had this coral a couple of months. It is growing nicely. I recently raised it up a bit in my tank. The button polyps are getting large. However, I notice that it is getting very "hairy", meaning the ends are growing very long.

Is this just a natural part of the growth?

PS. I notice that when I place the coral on the top of the tank, that the tentacles go backward away from the light and when I place the coral closer to the bottom, the tentacles point toward the light.

It looks prettier when they are near the bottom of the tank. However, which one is better for the coral?

Thanks much,

Larry, there comes a time in every aquarists life when he starts to get hair on his polythoas. I know it may seem wierd or awkward at first but i can assure you its a comepletely natural part of life.

Well, I thaught it was funny!

yeah high flow tends to grow longer skirts....personally i like lower flow growing shorter skirts...

also lower in the tank the zoas tend to stretch for the light....up top they tend to bask and sometime retract in the "sun"
