My SPS propagation setup, in progress

Thats cool prop system man. I wanted to go that too even gravity fed like your will be. I read about it in Calfos book and it sounds like a great idea. I bet your sps will dig the flow.

JB,
That raceway make me think of an M.C. Escher print.

The raceway arrived last week. That was one big box! The unit arrived in perfect condition.

Here is some pics of the unit next to a 6 gallon IO bucket for size comparison.

Finally the spot where the raceway will go. I still have to build the stand for it.

:D :D

Well.. what are you posting pics for? Get to the Hardware store, get some 2x4's and Plywood... C'mon my good man, there's frags to be grown out (me want some).
:D :D :D
Looks great Joe! Can't wait to see it finished.

Very cool Joe. I always like your style. I have looked to you and your system since I first steped foot on this board. This is just one more cool idea. I'm gonna tag along to see the progress.

No sand in the prop tank, it will be bare bottom. I will probably paint the bottom white to help reflect light back up. But that's about it.

Tagging alone, I have a Skimmer & Kalk reactor from Brent @ Barr Aquatics and he does awsome work. I can't wait to see more pictures of your race way with frags in it.

Man this has been a slow setup. I'm need to get other equipment setup before I can hook this into the main system. I'm hoping to hook it up and have it running on the weekend of 1/31. But here's what I have done in the meantime.

I water proofed the stand. Much easier for clean ups. Then drilled and attached a bracket for the pendant to hang from.

Finally got the pendant hung. I bought a Sunlight Supply Reef Optix V.

Finally!! The light test with an XM20K. The spread seems to be pretty good. I need to move the pendant forward an inch or so but then it looks like I'll have fairly uniformed light spread throughout the raceway.

JB - Looks great.

I use a 40 gallon breeder with glass baffles for my prop tank. I push through about 1000-1200 GPH. I'm kind of on my second phase though. I didn't like egg crate in my system at all. Reason: Snails/crabs had a hard time navigating over it. So, now i just put my frags mounted to small flat rubble on the bare glass bottom. This system seems to be working better for me.

I'm curious as to how those 250 xm 20k will work. I keep hearing such mixed reviews. I currently suspend a 250 watt 6500 k iwaski 8" above the tank. My lights are on reverse cycle from the main tank. No over heating problems on my tank at this point, but it is -3 w/o windhchill today! Serousily, I plan to hit the system with 2 large bedroom type fans before summer.

I finally got the raceway up and running this weekend. No frags in it yet.

But here are some pics with water running and lights on. I'm going to try and frag at least one thing from the main tank and put it in tonight.

Lastly how I have the lighting over the tank.
