My Tank Is Up And Running!!!

They don't move. I have the exact samething and had them ID'd by 2 sources. I just can't remember the name. I think it starts with a V.

Found out the importance of runing carbon in the sump. My tank has been getting really yellow looking the last 2 weeks and I couldn't figure out why. Thought I was just going through another diatom bloom or something. Then I remembered I pulled the carbon out 2 weeks ago so I threw some more in there yesterday. Lights came on today and WOW crystal clear water again! :D

From now on there will def. be carbon in the sump!

The "snail" is not a snail. It's actually a type of tube worm. The worm utilizes calcium to build it's home and shoots out it's web-like apparatus to collect food for the worm to eat. you will see a lot more of these especially if you have a lot of uneaten food that floats around. The general term for these animals are Filter Feeders.

They are a snail. They are called vermitid snails and have actually evolved to be stationary. I hated having them, and if you only have a few I'd get rid of them unless you want the undersides of all your rocks to draw blood when you move them.

OK, draw blood is an exaggerration, but they're sharp and overall are good for nothing.

I did some major overhauling on the tank today! Redid all the rockwork. And I pulled every single Vermatid snail off the rock that I could find or reach with my needle nose pliers! :D Roughly probably 150+ of them little buggers!

Also pulled off some aptaisia that had been buggin me! Not sure if they'll come back or not. I hope not. If so I'll have to kalk them.

Got a bunch more frags yesterday so I'll post some pictures of that when the tank clears up.

I also threw some "FRESH" carbon in the sump! That ones for Travis! ;) It's much better than that old stinky stuff

Walked in the house yesterday after the club meeting and my large toadstool leather was stuck up inside my seio powerhead. After I pulled it out it looked a little narly but this morning it was already looking much better.

Here's some pics of the leather stuck in the powerhead.

And here's what it looked like after I pulled it out.

I would be careful picking at the aptasia. It will spread like crazy. One of the best things that I have found for aptasia is peppermint shrimp. Dave had a bunch in his tank and ended up buying 2 shrimp and the aptasia all disappeared.

Big Update!

Big Update!

Picked up a bunch of new corals last weekend and finally got around to taking pictures of everything. Redid all the rockwork as well and I really like it a lot better. So here we go!

Here's the same rock of zoos I had before. I scrapped off a bunch of the brown ones and the other ones are really spreading better now. There's a tulip anenome that's starting to get covered by them. I figured it would move but it hasn't yet.

Purple finger leather. Isn't wanting to attach and keeps pulling itself deep inside the hoes I put it in! :mad2:

I have a couple pests that I haven't been able to ID yet. They only come around when I'm trying to work in the tank or take pictures of it. Can anyone ID them? ;)
