My Ultimate Multi Mantis System(s)

Clean up time -_-

Here is a shot of Sump C now operating :)

This is one of the best shots I'll be able to get of EVERYTHING behind the display stands.

remove the pump check for debris in the head and the air intake. also make sure the air silencer is assembled correctly. reassemble and re test. how do you tune the head height on the foam in this model? is it by turning the drain pipe or pulling up on the pipe work or lowering it just want the info

the water head looks very high to me. i would like to see it lower on the collection neck during break in you will flood the cup with the water this high. ime

i would also consider blocking them less from shining on the clear drain lines or they will grow alage in them. air and water rushing over any spot hitting light is the ideal environment for HA.

Yeah I'm going to remove it and give a look over. You twist the pump to adjust

I have spoken with a few people that have this model the exact one and they have all told me similar, for the first 24hours don't worry if it overflows, just tune it so the foam jusssst reaches half way up the collection neck.

When I did STAND A it overflowed over night once but into sump anyway and when it did fill it was all clean water cause it filled fast, after a day I had to raise it to get the foam lower cause no setting would work twisting adjuster (this is normal as my friends say) so I raised it and then rose it again now STAND A skimmer has the output pipe Jussssssst below the water line and foam is jussssst spilling into the cup, by all rights STAND A is the "oldest" cause it has 2 days on STAND C & 1 day on STAND B.

So either way they are working out cause STAND A is :).

But yeah going to need to pull it apart for noise check :3

Not sure I will be able to make it completely dark above skimmer without some form of sheet actually above it which would make it a real pain either way no "direct" light reaches it so It should be fine but if it does pose an issue I will address it down the track.

the light issue i was talking about was in the the clear drain lines not a biggie but something to look at before it grows stuff.

did you rinse the skimmers or run them in vinegar and water before use? i find this one test the unit and two removes the manufacturing chemicals there by speeding up the break in time.

This is a none issue :) the Live Feed System which has been using my original LifeReef HOB from my old 4ft reef has the same clear tubing return and it is directly under a light as well, the amount of algae been a few years and no algae :).

The skimmer is running silent now as well :) took it apart gave it a blow out and reassembled it, now loud humming now.

Soon enough we'll reach the 3000th post in no time :D

Let's get 1,000,000 views :D ?

All the skimmers are now raised and sitting up on eggcrate stands, they are all the same height and the individual skimmer outputs on the T section are jussssst under the water line.

Sump A Skimmer is the most mature and currently the most stable and pulling out "tea colored' gunk :D.

Seeing as how certain small things and the last BIG thing (ATO) is around the corner...I'm going to hold off on the big video that details everything, the sumps are too naked for much of a description....Once the refugium, reactors & ATO are all online, I will do the video that details and bares ALL.

I "hope" that by this time next week, EVERYTHING will be officially done but...I doubt it cause I still need to order the 3 Tunze ATO thingys (only going Tunze, only trust worthy one to knowledge, the brand is famous for a reason...).

Then once ALLLLLL this is done there is but 1 thing left.... :D :D

Focus on my "acting" career...don't think that everything I have been saying as "The Mantis-Man" / "Kharn" has been all smoke and dreams...this whole system WAS a dream...look at it now :D.

So basically once all the IMPORTANT stuff is out of the way (the systems thriving stability) I can then dive into the leisure/pleasure side of it in the filming I love doing, I already have my "human form" costume all planned out and detailed with knowing exactly what to buy from where and...as far as the manifested animated version of the Mantis-Man goes...I am starting to bite the bullet DO NOT THINK I AM GIVING UP!...By bite the bullet I meant I myself am drained in learning the animation at least at the level that I hoped to achieve....

However since I am very die-hard to see it come to life.....I'm starting to look at my options of actually paying an animator to bring life into my ideas/visions, to me this is kind of priceless and something I wouldn't mind spending a bit on maybe once or twice a month, not for my own enjoyment but for the rest of you as well and for the sake of the 'Mantis-Man' getting out there more, becoming known and thus so will the Stomatopods.

I'm sure I can come to an agreement with an animator out there the only problem is finding them xD....

I will not give up on the character(s) I have created!

The Mantis-Man is a brilliant idea, it targets a completely different group of people that have nothing to do with the aquarium hobby and yet once they do just a little bit of reading, these fans of Thor/Ironman etc. this "genre" of peoples will LOVE the Stomatopods because they embody all the things they see in their fiction films like Thor/IronMan etc.

And this is a large group of peoples...

It's been almost 24hours since the entire 3 systems have been upgraded and operational and here is an update on the skimmers specifically.

Skimmer A - 3days operation, emptied once so far.

Skimmer B - 2days operation, not emptied yet.

Skimmer C - 12hrs-24hrs operation not yet emptied

Skimmer B & C are still being adjusted slightly but Skimmer A is looking good now.

And so many people question the usefulness of a good skimmer. All that was in the water with the fx5s all this was just swirling around your lovely little pets. Once the ato is operational I hope you don't get complacent. Lol all the equipment doing all the hard work and task you had to keep up with. Now in a few weeks we can talk about ozone use in them skimmers.

Ooo looky :D Santa came once again and dropped off around $1k worth of goodies for me to play with!

What's in the box :) ?

4x TLF 150 Reactors (have 2 already, will be 2 per sump)
2x Eheim Compact 1000
1x Tunze Pump 1000 (ran out of ehiems)
1kg of Rowa Carbon (coarse grade / low flow) (2x 500g Cylinders)
2kg of Eco Phos (coarse grade / low flow) (2x 1kg Cylinders)
3x LED Refugium Lights
1x Aptasia X
1x Long steel ANGLED tweezers
Many poly angles & flexible tubing

:D

The good news is that I thought the Tunze ATO equipment would hold me back as I thought I had to order it but after I purchased everything today -_- I saw it on the shelf....so I said put 3 aside for me and I'll get you to send them up on Monday :D....so the ATO is full steam ahead now as well then it's all done!

I am NOT going to get into UV...looks like too much a hassle and even Dr.Caldwell isn't a fan of them, the only time I would use a UV sterilizer is in the same situation as Dr.Caldwell...Isolate the "sick" animal into a very small tank with big turn over volume through filtration & have the UV on that....but this would only be some sort of "hospital tank" something I'm not looking at.

So once the ATO is done that will be it.

P.S. I am running the PAIR of Reactors per sump off 1 pump each sump utilizing a T piece to split the water from the pump to the reactors, the coarse sized substrate doesn't need to tumble about to my knowledge or rather shouldn't, it's the very fine sandy media that needs strong flow to keep it tumbling and get as much contact as possible with the very fine media and t prevent it "settling" and caking over in certain spots.

So Basically there should be no problem since the reactors BOTH have coarse media they won't need intense input flow.

The first DUAL Reactor Assembly just have to zip tie certain areas, either way it shouldn't be too powerful since the media I have chosen is a coarse low flow type. :spin1:
