My Ultimate Multi Mantis System(s)

Once that is done...

Nem tank (stocking)
Top Tank (Aqua Scape & Stocking)
Bottom Tank (Aqua Scape & Stocking)

...there is only the "prize" tank left :D

The Juggernauts old tank which will become a mixed reef (no nems) and have a large DIY Fake Wall Burrow for an equally large O.scyllarus :).

Then it's done... o.O

It will all be done LOL...

Might take another stab at Turtle Grass in the spearer tanks once everything else is done...that stuff looked fantastic!

That's normal they always lose claws when stressed/shipped. It'll be a few molts for the max size tho..

They also will grow algae on their bodies.. that goes away after a molt too.

Well those harlequin crabs weren't stressed out that's for sure

It will grow in based on nutrition and water conditions. These guys can re grow a full size claw or two in a single molt. I have seen it many times over

The big Porcelain Crab molted last night :D I freaked out when I woke up to seeing it dead looking on the tank base and yeah...freaked out!

Something told me for no reason to flip the Mini Maxi rock and sure enough :D there it was underneath the rock, still no other claw yet :( didn't want to disturb once I realized it was alive and moving.

Harlequin Crabs have not left the Hells Fire :D lol...clownfish is still around (I chase it out of the hells fire half when I see it in there :X)...yet to find BTA, Porcelains have been sussing out the mini maxis :D.

Well the ATO reservoir & 3 individual Top Up Units attaching the reservoir to the 3 sumps are all connected and operating!

Took me some fidgeting originally due to the nature of the design of the ATO in that it "should" have the reservoir water rim lower then the sumps max water rim...

Due to siphoning, I hit this wall big time cause the water level in my reservoir is a good 2ft higher then that of the sumps lol...

However to beat this I simply made various holes in each of the 3 return tubes but inside the drum itself, whilst the pump operates, the holes leak but fall straight back into the drum, when the pump stops it now sucks air from these holes breaking the siphon and stopping flow.

Pics to come of everything :D need to go to bed...

Holiday is officially over now (good timing), my month off work is up as of 38mins ago ;( I already miss knowing I can just wake up and do as I please tomorrow...

Here is a small picture of something I have been crossing my fingers for :D

The tiny tiny tinnny porcelain crab has taken a liking to the small Mini Maxi :D

:)

I have read that the mini maxi's are very easy to propagate by cutting it in half with a razor and soaking both pieces in an iodine/salt water solution. They will grow two new nems. I havn't had the cojones to try it though.

I've seen magnificant anemones, and BTA fragged before.

Maybe try fragging the hell's fire ;)

I need to frag the mini maxis cause its actually difficult to locate them downunder...

Be really nice to see a few of the 2 I have would sell for a looot :D

Oh btw, the algae is already starting to grow on your porcelain crabs. Little by little you'll see them covered more and more.. just like any other algae bloom.. I noticed the one anem crab lost it but you said it molted recently.. the little one hwoever you can see the growth easily.

They shed it all off when they molt.. but they make a good siren since anemones need good water quality and don't fair well in systems full of nitrates which feed the algae along with phosphates.

The Nems are in STAND B and of all the systems, STAND B is the most "healthy"...

For well over a year now the entire top tank has been 1 big active Refugium with Live Rock, Loads of Macro Algae & a DSB in half the tank...

Nitrates & Phosphates are a not an issue for me :) even more so now then before due to having 2 reactors on the sump with Carbon & EcoPhos.

There is a lot more filtration then before...

P.S. - STAND B is crystal clear now all the cloudyness is gone, nothing succumbed, all is well :) makes me think that Tintin might of died from simply just a molt failure and NOT the DIY Fake Wall (same thing happened with STAND A when the walls went in).

However Maximus "should of" died cause he molted same time wall went in (wall likely being the catalyst) but he is still here and larger then ever :D...Tintin had a LOT of growth left in him so he SHOULD of come out of the molt no probs...Ah well.

Well here it is :D... EVERYTHING behind the Display Stands!

SUMP A - 900L/h Marine Sources Skimmer, Chaeto Refugium with LED clamp lamp, 2x TLF150 Reactors (1 RowaCarb / 1 EcoPhos).

RO/DI Reservoir - 3x AutoAqua Smart ATO units.

SUMP B- 900L/h Marine Sources Skimmer, Chaeto Refugium with LED clamp lamp, 2x TLF150 Reactors (1 RowaCarb / 1 EcoPhos).

SUMP C- 900L/h Marine Sources Skimmer, Chaeto Refugium with LED clamp lamp, 2x TLF150 Reactors (1 RowaCarb / 1 EcoPhos).

Hard to get the HOB overflows in the photos :X let alone photos of 1 systems HOBs working due to the height difference in them...

Looks good. I would still like to see some prefilters in place (maybe socks or spill way sponges).

I hate sponges and things like that which collect debris...let the skimmer catch what it can and that which passes it will be caught and consumed by the inevitable "foam" looking chaeto algae :)...

But NO foam, NO soaks, they serve only to build nitrates and require too frequent cleaning...I think they are a bad idea period and only have a place for clearing up a tank when cloudy water like that, temporary uses.

Stand B was really cloudy, so I cut and shoved some foam in the spill way, 24hrs it was clear, 24hrs the foam was nasty...had to throw it out, it worked but it worked to well and leaving it in was doing bad...

Now the water is crystal clear, the foam removed and gone, all back to normal :D.

What I would like to see is the Refugiums totally FULL of Caulerpa :D...hurry up dang it xD!!!

Some pictures of none stomatopod related things before I head to bed :lolspin:

Isn't this Mini Maxi just NUTS :bounce1::bounce2:!!!
I see Blue, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Red, Green...6 colors!!!
This bad boy is gonna make me some serious bucks down here!!! :D

More to come!

Love the nems.
Go look at any of the tank of the month winers on any reef sight and look at the sumps. All of them employ mechanical filtration. Not some not most but all of them. Some use socks some use filter pads some use ditritus raceways but everyone who wants controllable high quality water levels use them. I agree they do require work to have them. You yourself had them inside of the fx5s. But no one will argue that a little extra time spent on changing a pad will end the world or spraying off a sock in the sink will bring down civilization. The argument that they create nitrate is only valid if they are left unattended for long periods of time. In your case this would only serve to speed the growth of your macro garden. Being that your fuges are located post prefilter. As for any large stuff building up in the fuge on live rock this only happeneds when no prefilter is used and the fuge is left unattended.

Long story short use one if you want or don't but consider adding one they come in very handy. Its way less work to clean a prefilter then it is to strip a fuge. O and never leave filtration unattended for to long. The last part has never been a problem for you.

Mother Fu**ing PC is dead...

No updates for a little while -_-...

Think it's Motherboard related...

AKA New PC likely and that is something I cannot afford right now cause I spent it all on the systems -_-...

Tried a few fixes nothing happened...
