My Ultimate Multi Mantis System(s)

It's not really a display setup but to temporarily stock and then sell them.

This is going to happen just depends on what scale I want to start out at....on one hand I don't want to make the setup to large and not be able to sell them all...

On the other hand I do not want the setup to be so small that I will have to upgrade it after X months...

I just hit GOLD!!! :D :D :D

But beyond that....I'll let you stew till Thursday on what it might be.... ;)

I really cannot believe I found these 3....such a great find and effectively finishing my spearer collection (minus at least 2 more giant ones).

Haven't found a new mantis in over a year....find at least 2 species on my dream list in one hit...and got word of a P.ciliata heading my way on the weekend!

There all slightly over 4inchs slightly larger then my small smashers.

The Komaii so far is quite interactive :D

Well I managed to so far gut the Bottom Tank of STAND A completely and place within each half a Pseudosquillidae, one that I am 99.9% sure is a Pseudosquillana richeri however the other (photographed below) eludes me due to the lack of information in my large database, the other species and only other known that I can see from Aus is P.oculata however the data of the recorded specimen quotes it at 48mm long, this individual below is between 120mm-150mm....

Still not sure which path I will take with how the aquascaping/coralscaping will look in this tank in STAND A but it will either be....

A) Zoa Garden 1 half / Acan Garden other Half
B) 1 Large Dendro 1 Half / 1 Large Gorgonian other Half

If I do go with (B) then it will not only be quicker to setup and get finished once the 2 pieces of NPS are located but, (A) will then happen to the Top Tank of STAND A, whilst the "planned" SPS style for the Top Tank gets scrapped or shifted to STAND B.

Now for the Raoulserenea komaii ;) it's getting Minnie & Maximus old tank half in the Top Tank of STAND B, again I still need to gut it and remove all the substrate for the new aquascaping/coralscaping to come. :)

STAND A - FDS (Full Display Shot) :D

Top Left Compartment - Minnie (G.graphurus)
Top Right Compartment - Eve (G.smithii)
Middle Left Compartment - Nicole (G.ternatensis)
Middle Right Compartment - Megatron (G.chiragra)
Bottom Left Compartment - ??? (P.???)
Bottom Right Compartment - ??? (P.Richeri)

STAND A is full :D and with a P.ciliata on the way I'll likely remove Eve and place her in a temp HOB nano
for the P.ciliata to go in STAND A too (the R.komaii that came recently is in STAND B, beside Minos).

This was Minnie & Maximus old Compartment or the Left Half of the Top Tank of STAND B. Now that Minnie is in STAND A and Maximus...in my freezer, there was no need to sacrifice this size compartment for Minnie alone, so the R.komaii is going to get the whole half to itself, beside Minos in the other half.

However due to the soon to be aquascape/coralscape changes I have gutted the compartment and in the process came across a few nasty individuals...

Here is the compartment half now with the R.komaii inhabiting within the PVC, I'm unsure yet as to what I want to do with this compartment as far as coralscaping goes, I am likely to keep Minos in the other half with his DSB but remove all the macro algae and replace it with 1 decent large clam or multiple small clams like 2-3-4inchs long each. But yeah as for the R.komaii not sure what to put in with it yet...

Just glad to now have all 3 new crew members within their compartments and with room to move more as they are a bit large for my Acclimation Tanks....

However I do plan to purchase a few (3) of each custom HOB acclimation tanks 3 suitable for the "largest" Small Species and 3 suitable for the "largest" Large Species (L.mac), these will prove very useful in the future ;) ...

Eucinid worms? I have quite a few of those living with my one O. scyllarus. Do you think those would pose a threat to any stomatopod? When molting perhaps..

They pose a threat to "anything", on the simple basis that the worm is blind, it uses the tentacles on its head to feel and strike, whenever something touches the tentacles, it strikes.

It's a risk not worth having however I have seen my own stomatopods kill and consume Eunice, Bristle/Fire Worms & more....

A few more pictures of the individuals :) the P.richeri is difficult to photo within the PVC burrow due to it being dark in color, however the R.komaii is easy to photo due to being much lighter.

Also I may have come down to what I think the largest of the 3 is, it looks very similar in both body shape/color to P.richeri and the eye shape/color matches basically, so it isn't P.ciliata but I think it might be a Pseudosquillana megalophthalma....

Can't see if the rostrom has a spine or not. The easiest way to tell R. komai from R. hierglyphica is the pattern on the raptorial propodus and dactyl. It is spotted on R. h, solid in R. k.

The first animal appears to be R. oxyrhyncha. Does it have a rostral spine? What color is the meral spot.

Number two would seem to be P. richeri based on the median eyespot.

I'm a little confused about which is which lol....

P.richeri yeah that eye spot is a good give away.

R.komaii ? The anterior of the propodus & dactyl looks mottled like the rest of the animal...Hard to tell still if there is or isn't a spine on the plate...

But this one I am puzzled, it needs to be at least 120mm long...due to the compartment itself being only 300mm wide and I'm pritty damn good with measurements off sight due to working lathes and cutting steel all day... :X

I'll try to get better pics but right now their all still a bit shaken, I remember when I got Minos (L.colemani) and how it took him nearly 7months to finally settle in and be the "Mini Mac" he is now :).
