My Zoa Garden

Is it a closed loop? Looks like Loc-line mixed in between the rocks in the first pic?

I got a small zoa garden in my 125G. Yours is looking Good! 👍 Keep the pictures coming.

Thanks for the support cmbtmedic1 and xfactor1315 !
Grandis, I got the glue from an online retailer in New Zealand, however these days there is a distributer in Australia. The stuff is like a cement, that goes hard under water, even taking a couple of days to get strength up.
Reefer mon- yes there is a bit of loc line eductors that I used for the return lines coming through the bottom which makes my tank not a closed loop as they act like a drain point. A true closed loop would be say the use of a canister filter or directly connecting the inlet and outlet side of a pump to the associated pipework. Since mine has an air gap by the filter sock it is no longer a closed loop.
I have this drain protected by non return valve , which i test weekly and clean regularly.
Here are a couple of pics taken a few mins ago- I am glad there is substrate in the tank.

impressive!

impressive!

The display is fantastic but even more impressed with the DIY tank and sump!

Do you happen to have a build thread or pics of the construction? Considering taking the plunge and building one myself but cant get up the nerve. Work likeyours is very motivating and gives me hope!

Thanks for sharing it!

That's a great build. Bare bottom can be nice, yours definitely was, but I just prefer the look of sand. It seem more natural and...for lack of a better word...finished. I'm definitely going to take a lot of your theme and incorporate into my next build

I have no idea what you mean by you can't get fancy morphs, because I see a good amount in that tank! Aussie zoas are one of the tops!

Oh Dang!!! This is outstanding. I'm not a big fan of black sand having had some bad times with it in the past but man did it make your tank really pop with color. Beautiful!! Not surre if I missed it but what are the dimensions of the tank?
Your rock work is terrific. Straight forward but really came out perfect.

Im in Awe of your build and the overall look. Keep the pics and info coming!!

Guys, thanks goes out to all that posted on this TJ, Cody, Buddy, CJ and uxdesigner and those on the previous page!!!!
To answer your question CJ03 regarding the dimensions of the tank, this is a sexy
900mm x 600mm x 480mm , the rock was what came in a 20kg box, had no control over the shapes of the rock and made do with what was delivered.
I will certainly keep the pictures rolling in as long as you post replies, lol
Thanks!

Ok , lets see some early frags that I used to seed the tank, most interestingly is this example seen here

one year on it looks like this, taken yesterday.

See the blue zoas in the picture above, I simply let the big rock pictured below grow onto my structure and cut it free, there were 3 polyps to begin with, I sold the big rock to a friend and kicked myself for doing so.... however they have grown out and established themselves well, no longer do I regret this sale as I have this type of zoa in my collection. Here is a rather ordinary photo of the mother colony.

This grows on the top of the left hand round boulder, you can hardly see it in real lif, however the Macro lens really does it justice.

This is the ''fire and ice'' frag that I used to grow on the round boulder.

Well, so far so good, Ill post up more photos soon.

BTW, feel free to help me name these things, as I have no idea what you call them over in your part of the world. I sort of know the common types.

Best regards
Nils

I just call em all wicked cool looking and colored Zoa's!
I can't keep up with names myself. Some seem to have several names!
It's a crazy Zoa world out there.
New pic's look great. The coloring is insane! Love it.
What ever you're doing keep it up. This tank is pretty sweet.
