Before bed tonight I went in to my living room to check on the moonlight (I had been messing with it earlier). I noticed that all of my corals were closed up and crabs were all over the place. When I turned on my moonlight I noticed something interesting. Little tiny shrimp all over the place! I have no clue where they all came from, they were just suddenly there in swarms! I haven't added anything to the tank lately, though I did just start feeding the tank inhabitants Rods Food.

Are you sure they are mysid some other shrimp may have spawned. Happened to me recently when my pistols spawned.

I do have a peppermint shrimp (actually I put 3 in the tank- but have only seen one of them at a time-so either the other two died or they come out in shifts) but up close they looked nothing like peppermint shrimp larvae, and looked more like mysid, though i dont have a microscope and they were too small to see details with naked eyes.

You said crabs. I and someone else recently had a hermit crab spawn a couple weeks ago. I thought maybe they were mysid (not aware I had any, but only thing I could think of) until I looked up hermit crab fry. The hermits were all active and over in the corner where the biggest concentration of fry were. I have a pregnant peppermint, but they were too small for that & their tails were the wrong shape, and she was still carrying.

My hermits were crawling all around eating the little critters. But looking a little more into it, those could very well been hermit crab babies. I sure have quite a few hermits.

Yeah, some of mine were eating them too. Nothing else in the tank was, though, which I thought odd. The little cardinal was even dodging them LOL.
