i had a cyano bloom after 4 weeks. did this happen to anyone else?
-In my case (with BP) at first they came and destroyed the GHA that i had , what was good

.
Then the cyano stayed on the sand and by vacuuming it away and dosing additional biodigest (bacteria) bi weekly , they disappeared again after a couple of weeks.
Then i had like 2 month`s of completly cyano and algea free tank , but after i replaced an bleu plus t5 with an fiji purple i`m back experiencing some cyano and a little spec of GHA.
All the nutrient levels stayed zero al the time , so i think it`s the shifted spectrum towards red that triggered the cyano back into my system :worried:
-though i don`t gonna replaced the fiji purple (colors are soo magnificant :celeb2

-Growth and coloration as PE couldn`t be better , acro has doubbled in size over the past 3 month`s (before acro almost no growth).
I have a 90 gallon with a 4" Deep sand bed... My plan is to remove the sand bed and use the NP bio pellets.
How much of the bio pellets should i use for this tank?( I purchased 1000ml)
Should i let the bio pellets get established with the bacteria before i remove the sand bed?
How long would that take?
Thanks
- I would start out with 400ml , you can always after a couple of weeks add some more .
removing the sand bed can be tricky , why remove ?
... but did not see a clear answer on if the phosphate was being skimmed out with the nitrates. I have a good skimmer and if this is the case I will try it...
So is anybody running the pellets without GFO and seeing a drop in phos, as well as nitrates? Or is the GFO still the only thing reducing the phosphate to managable levels?
TIA Rob C.
-I run the BP`s w/o GFO , i do still have a little carbon reactor (which i don`t take offline).
you will skim phosphates , i measured my skimmate few times on phosphates
and i always (i do wet skimming) produce about 2 l /week with around 2 - 3 ppm PO4 and 200 ppm NO3 in a system of 35 g.
Display reads 0.1 -0.2 ppm NO3 and PO4 always zero.
