Do you feed your BTA's anything. Mine doesn't really like much of anything. I've only had him for a few weeks and I've only tried chopped up mussel and a whole mussel. Some ppl say you don't really need to feed them. Other say feed.

What do you feed?
Thanks Tritonian! I feed mine pieces of shrimp, clam, oyster, etc... all kinds of seafood about once a week.

I'm considering a setup similar to yours, but I won't have the luxury of a separate tank room. Do you think you could achieve all that you have if you had to store all of your equipment inside of the cabinet? Thanks for your reply in advance.
Thanks Dudester! You can have everything under the stand except for the mixing vats. I wouldn't recommend putting a chiller down there either.

First of all congratulations on being a dad, I’m hope to be one soon! Also great looking tank which I’m also working on getting started once I move into my new home in April. Maybe I missed it but do you have any pic or descriptions of how your flow and filtration system works also your lighting, feeding schedules or just any tips you might have for us who want to set up a tank similar to yours .
Thanks bolis! Return pump is Eheim 1260. Skimmer is Deltec AP851. All 4 CL flow is aimed in a 90 deg elbow towards the back glass using Dart. Then I have left to right horizontal flow using VorTech. Additional flow by maxijet 1200 soon to be replaced by Tunze 6055 w/ controller. Then I change out my micron bag every 3 days.

Lighting from 8 am to 3 pm. Feed flake and pellets 2 x a day. Feed lps 3 to 4 times a week (mixed seafood/cyclpeeze)
Started to feed sps "pappone" this week.
Changed my salt to HW pro.

Best advice is keeping your water parameters stable. Also need to setup your water change method easiest possible.

I've been thinking about your mixing method lately. Since I saw your equipment room on page 4.
Could you tell me how it's done.
Then how you do the water change.

Bill, my ro/di fills up both mixing tanks. One tank, I use for topoff using LM3, and other for water changes. The small external pump is plumbed from bottom (intake) to top (output) w/ ball valve going to my sump. The small blueline pump is only on when mixing my salt. (48hrs max) The 45 gal. saltwater lasts about 3 weeks doing 3 - 6 gal. water changes every 2 to 3 days. There is a ball valve in my sump that leads to the drain for my water change. So, I just empty my sump and fill it using ready mixed saltater. I can do my water changes while brushing my teeth in the morning. :)

Wow, that is a really slick set up for changing water. My set up is a little more labor intensive, but I've finally graduated from having to lift any 5 gal containers anymore.

Are water changes of that volume and frequency required for the Zeovit system? Do you ever get detritus in your sump that requires siphoning? It's amazing that water changes can be that easy. Thanks.

I'm doing about 10% w.c. a week, but in small increments. My sump stays clean b/c of my micron bag that I regularly change out.

Hawaiian Marine Imports

where have you found the best price for HW salt in bulk? No-one around here sells it.
I'm fortunate b/c Hawaiian Marine Imports is located here in Houston. Wholesale price is about $40 for 150 gal bucket and $75 for 300 gal mix.

I forgot to mention my starbucks everymorning, thanks Edward :)

No moonlight pictures b/c I can't caputure in on camera. Too dark IMO.

naka, congrats to you guys on your new son :D. if you thought reefkeeping was an adventure, an amazing journey awaits you :)

thanks everyone. Julio, I didn't add any hermits, if you saw it one on my pics, they were added accidently or as a hitchhiker. I don't like hermits in my reef.

Love those pink zoas and the xenia next to it! Looks like the xenia has grown fast for you. I heard it was a grow slower. Must be the pappone! ;) Let me know if you ever want to sell a frag off of it.

Big difference in 3 months. Try and edit the 2006 to say 2007.

I'm curious as to why you use the Lighthouse for light control - RK2 can't handle the ATLS or what?

Oh yeah, beautiful photos as usual!
