nano Fish list

I recently setup a 10 nano that has been running for a few days...... i will be waiting about 2 more weeks before stocking any fish because i want the live rock inside to cycle the tank first. My question is what is the maximum amount of fish from this list that would be safe to add into the tank. and in what order should i add them?

1pair of blue neons
1pair fold neons
2 purple firefish
1-2 yellowhead jawfish
2 black percs
2 yellowtail damselfish

I would skip the damsels altogether. While they are nice looking fish they grow to be so big they would be cramped in a 10 and become even more aggressive as they got older, IMO.

You could get away with the black percs, 1 purple firefish and a small sand sifting goby or the jawfish. That would be a nice mix of colors.

Well, most people recommend 2-3 at most for a 10 gallon tank
i think you would be fine to have 2 blue neons and 2 gold neon gobies since they are so small and dont add that much bioload as long as you dont overfeed

Having a fuge stocked with chaeto would be helpful too.

but if you dont go with gobies, add the peaceful fish first, then add the more aggressive ones, such as neon goby first, then clownfish.
The reason being that once an aggressive fish establishes his/her teritory, it will pick on the next fish that comes in.

With a fuge and a skimmer and water changes every week you might be able to get away with two clowns and a neon goby but clowns are messy eaters and create a large bioload. I say two smaller fish for a ten gallon. Without a sump or fuge or skimmer maybe a pair of clowns and you would still need to do water changes every week.

You shouldnt put 2 jawfish together as they will fight. It's only recommended in a big tank like a 150.
You can get them as a mated pair but I still wouldnt recommend it in a 10 gal as they still live apart in the wild I believe.
1 is ok but do remember they need alot of sand to burrow and are notorious jumpers.
I'd say 2 fish if they're bigger or 3 if you go with the gobies.

Do test your tank to make sure it's cycled before adding them and then do it slowly so the bacteria can catch up.

I have a lawnmower and a scotter bleeny in my 10 gallon, 2 hermits, a emerald crab and a few snails. I had a firefish but he got sick and didn't make it I would say stick with the most of 4 and do water changes weekly. I do that and I have a skimmer. good luck

I personally think four is too much for a 10 and I think alot of other people would too. You might be able to get away with four small gobies, but then I dont know if they would wnat to live togather.

im gonna say, to prevent a headach of sick fish and crappy water quality, stick with 2 fish........ Ive personally tried to push the limits of stocking a 10 gallon, but its really hard to keep on top of things and keep things healthy. For a ten gallon, try to stick with just two fish, one small and one big, and you will thank yourself in the long run. I would go with a small goby of some sort, and then add one other fish, like a small clown or even a firefish. But no more than that in my opinion, as it just gets too crowded for the fish in there. hope that helps

Heres my two cents:
I worked in a LFS all summer, and i have talked to way too many people who have crashed their tanks from overloading them with fish; and I think that adding even 4 fish to a non-matured (it may be cycled, but the biological filtration is still not up to its full potential) 10 g. tank is going to crash it. Now, if you gradually add one at a time over the course of a year or more, then i think you will be ok. I have a 24 g. Aquapod which has been going for +3 months, and i still have only one fish in it. IMO that is the only way to go. I have had my share of crashed tanks, and imo your stocking list looks like a recipe for another one.
