Nano running on 100% canister filter?

Anyone running thier nano tank 100% on a canister filter? Was thinking of setting a 5 gal cube tank I have laying around (fluval chi) and thought it would look pretty slick with some lily pipes to keep the clean lines. Would probably just fill the filter with floss and matrix or the bio rings. Interested to see some pics or links you guys might have. For lighting I am thinking the new kessil ap80 when it comes out. Open to suggestions for lighting as well.

Canisters aren't popular in the reef hobby because without at least weekly breakdown and clean out of the canister filter, they tend to trap a lot of detritus and become nitrate factories. Ultimately, the intensive maintenance of the canister filter becomes more trouble than it's worth.

I ran a canister filter for a few years on my 30. I did have to tear it apart and clean it with normal tank maintenance. It was a true pita until I custom built a 10 gallon sump out of two 5 gallon tanks. It freed up so much space under my tank and I didn't realize the canister was doing such a crappy job. I dont recommend them. Your better off running a hob waterwheel thingy

What others have said... They are usually more trouble than they are worth. In such a small tank, you could probably just get away with weekly water changes. A better alternative would be a HOB or a sump.

I ran my nano on canister filters and run my 56 on them now. It's 3 years old and doing well

I need to do some maintenance due to my wrasse eating my cuc but this is the fourth tank I have run on canister filters. To be fair though I run them more as sealed sumps to keep my tank dead silent

I've decided to dust off one of my old diy AIO from the garage. Less startup cost for me. Didn't need to buy the cannister or the Lilly pipes. It's a little bigger than I wanted in the bedroom, but it's not too bad.

I have two 10 gal and one 20 gal tanks that have been up from 1 1/2 to five years running on canister filters. I only disassembled one of the canisters when the water flow declined to an unacceptable level. I have tested the water so often and found 0 nitrates that I don't bother any more.
BUT I do 2 x 25% water changes per week.
