so im setting up a nano soon. adn im pretty sure that for the most part its going to be a species tank for two clowns and a host.

here what it will include:

tank- 10 gal rimless measuring 16" X 16" X 9"
sump/fuge- 20H, making the total wate rvolume apx 30 gallons
lighting- 150W 14K metal halide (and moon LED)
skimmer/filtration- aqua c remora. sump will be packed with rock and algea
other livestock- 6 line wrasse, some type of small blenny, 2 or 3 peppermint shrimps
other inverts- various polyps, MAYBE an LPS not near any rockwork

CLOWNS- either true percs or a may just give in and get two black onyx percs. well.... that or cinnimon clowns  i knwo that sounds random, but i love those lil guys!
ANEMONE- could i keep a carpet? (Stichodactyla sp.) if anyone knows a better host i could choose, please let me know.

thanks everyone!

ok.. yeah thats kind of what i figured, i just didnt know if there was some species i didnt know about.

an LFS by me has an assload of RBTA's. when the time comes ill prob just get one from him.
how hardy are they? and how often should you feed them? i know anemones liek to chow down more often than others...

its a retrofiit so im building the canopy and im jst going to jam it full of fans. and the top of the tank will be open top (seeing as its rimless  ) and i plan on having at LEAST 6" between light and water surface

RBTA's are a good first anemone. Since you have ~30 gallons in the system, as a whole, you should be okay. As far as feeding, you will get different answers, but I feed mine two or three times per week. Some feed much less often, like a couple of times per month.

If you go with a BTA, you wont need that much lighting, you could probably get away with a 70w MH setup. But keeping a BTA in a 10 gal would be difficult for 2 reasons: They can grow up to 12 inches in diameter and they like to eat alot. Most ppl say that the minimum tank size for a BTA is 30 gal.

doh! I guess you do make the minimum tank size limit. If you do go with a BTA, consider going with a 70 MH. I guy didnt like the 150 MH sunpod, but he really likes the 70 MH version.

ive already got the equip for the 150W. thats something i intend on keeping..

if i start out just leaving the light on for a few hours a day, and slowly work up from there, could i get the RBTA to adjust?
