Nano Wavebox tuning in 120gallon

Based on some forum discussions on using a Nano wavebox (6206) versus a wavebox (6212) in a 120 gallon (4x2x2) tank, we went with a Nano. In addition, for flow, we have a nanostream 6045.

At 12V and the Nano top slightly above the water surface (even at the height of a wave), we are getting a little more than a 1/2 inch wave height (distance form lower to highest point).

Any recommendations on how to use the volt selections to increase the wave? When we increase the voltage, should we tune slower or faster to increase the wave?

Thanks!

Set the voltage to 24v, this would not change the tuning frequency of your tank. They are two separate things really. If when it is set to 24v and the tuning is optimized you find that the wave is too large then turn the voltage down, this would leave it set to the correct timing for your tank while reducing the wave.

thanks - that did increase the wave (now closer to a 1" wave at the edges).

Is this what I should expect in a 120 gallon with the nano? Should I be trying to better tune in (playing with the box height, location, etc.)?

Thanks!

On a 120, I would expect a wave of about 1", possibly as high as 1.5" depending on overflows, rock layout and positioning.

Two 1" overflow pipes in one box, center back of tank. Rock formation is two groupings, with some lingering rocks lower in the sand.

Left tank side grouping is open through the underside (alternate stacked base rock) and uses back of the tank for part of the support.

Right side grouping has a larger footprint, is more forward, and doesn't use the back wall of the tank.

Both use the overflow box to help support the base rock.

Rock height is approx 2/3 up the height of the tank.

The wave box is mounted to the ride side of the tank, just in front of the front of the overflow box. If you drew a visual line in front of the wave box, it would be clear of rocks. In addition, there are no rocks placed directly below the wave box.

I am getting nice sand shapping as a result of the wave box.

Other than being noisier....changing to the 24V seems to give me the results I'm looking for. I can observe movement of the various items on the live rock just about everywhere in the tank.
