Nanostream 6025 rattle...advised to contact Roger in this forum.

I bought two Nanostream 6025s a few weeks ago. Last night I was awakened to a loud rattling noise from the aquarium. I reached in and felt the Nanostream that was making the noise and it seemed to be vibrating excessively. I opened the case and pulled the prop out. Is it supposed to be sitting on a shaft? If so the shaft has broken and is imbedded in the magnet of the prop. Also I noticed that one of the tabs that hold the mount to the magnet had broken. Not sure how, possibly the excessive vibration? The store I bought it from said I should contact Roger in this forum. I also filled out a work request on Tunze.com. Anything else I need to do to get a replacement?

I like these powerheads but I think this one had some issues. The other one is running flawlessly.

No problem, if you send me the pump we will replace the motor and clip for you.

Thanks Roger. I received the repaired nanostream and it is working great. However my other one just started making the same noise. I took it apart and it also has a broken shaft. :( Was there a bad group of them or am I doing something I'm not supposed to? I noticed Warboc had some problems with his too and we bought them at the same place/same time.

Roger, given the continued loose shaft issue, I hope Tunze change the design so that the shaft is not fixed rather removable, much like the Hydor Koralia pumps and pretty much most powerheads on the market. This will put the loose shaft issue to bed once and for all.

We no longer have this problem, in fact i have never seen a 6045 where the shaft came out, only a few that the shaft broke. Since we made the fit tighter they don't come out anymore and now that we are using German made stainless steel shafts the broken shaft issues will be gone too, the Chinese shafts just were too brittle. The problem with a removable shaft is it has too much play for our motor design. We tried it.

Ubenripped- PM your info again and I will replace the other pump.

PM sent.

As Jacmyoung has said this is really my only issue with the nanostreams too. The flow they provide is great there were just a few bugs to knock out. The customer service has been excellent though.
