nanostream 6025 rattling problem

Tunze, looks like your company has very good customer service i am back on board with the Tunze Turbelle NanoStream Pump 6025.

mr pink it will calm down how long have you run it 6 or 7 hours?

DB Triggerfish i had the aquaballs in england when i lived there they are nothing close to a nano stream, oh and by the way my first one is quieter than my second but my second is way quieter than it was when i first plugged it in and its only been running a few days and they are ten times quiter than my rio powerheads i think people do overestimate the power these have while they can move all the water in a 29gall two in a 50 gallon seems like less flow and now that i have two i want three

p.s. i should just upgrade to a 6055 that would take care of all my problems exept the 6055 is just a myth at this point as it has not even gone into final production yet

Mr. Roger... i am having problem with one of my 6025... at first both of my 6025 are quiet... they were not silent but they were quiet enough for my bedroom... after running a little over 2 weeks, one of them started becoming louder and louder... i even took it out and cleaned it... checked and made sure nothing is loose, but it's still noisy... i also tried unplugging in and plugging it back in a couple of times... but as soon as it starts spinning in the right direction, it is loud again...

Have you opened the pump? So far the ones I have got back both had the same problem, the shaft was not attached, it was loose in the pump.

yea... i opened it up... i even pushed the shaft in as far as it can go... i tried taking out the shaft by pulling it... it budges a little but then stops... so i just pushed it back in...

arg, quited down for a few hours, but seems to be noise again... I have 2 of these, so I will put the other one in, while i get this repaired... I am from Canada, who should i be sending mine too?

One week into the use mine is now silent, and my fish seem to love the added current very much, time to get a 2nd and a 3rd...:)

i've found out that the shaft of the pump that makes noise is kinda loose... not loose that it falls out, but loose that it wiggles slightly... when i pressed the shaft in, the tip had a tendency to lean off center to the right... it is enough to be noticeable that it is not centered... i also have this pump right next to an Ocean Runner 2000 skimmer pump... i noticed accidentally that when i held up the Nano Stream impeller close to the Ocean Runner pump, there is a very noticeable vibration to the magnet caused by the Ocean Runner's motor... the vibration is very noticeable when i held the impeller approximate to where it would be if it where in operation in the Nano Stream... could this be enough to upset the Nano Stream's impeller balance and caused the shaft to wear crooked off center...? i've given it a good few days now since the pump started making noise... it is not getting better...

my loud one had a loose shaft also. I just pushed it in. Also added the rubber pads that were missing initially and in one week its is as silent as my other 6025!

If you have a noisy pump send it in and we will exchange it. Generally the shaft rights itself over time but I can imagine the stronger field of a big pump could prevent this and cause it to bow toward the bigger pump. Centrifugal force will line up the shaft usually in a few days but you want to make sure it is firmly pressed in.

One of my 2 6025 has been rattling for over a week....
I got these from 2 different vendors....the other one gone silence after 2 days as mentioned....However this one just wouldn't sop.
Reading through this thread can I sum up the different things I should try first:
1. Move it away from edges of the tank
2. Try a different power source, maybe a different Power Bar.
3. Move other power heads that are close to it
4. Contact Roger?

I must say overall I am very happy with the product though...

Send it in and we will replace it, either the shaft came out of it's socket or the drive unit has too large of a hole in it and is oscillating, making a noise.

Sorry, I didn't notice until I hit send that you are in Canada. I only handle the US market but Phil should be able to get you taken care of his website is www.xeniainc.com
