I'm going out there today to check out the progress of my home. I'll try to stop in to see how things are!

Brian D, if you have something to say please feel free to PM me. The information I present is sometimes unwelcome and often disputed. I acknowledge this with both what I say as my opinions as well as what I present as fact.

Revenge,

Your store then is a diamond among lumps of coal. My wording admittedly got a little confusing and I stumbled over my own fingers. The prices mentioned are those paid by brokers to breeders in order to supply the animals to Petland.

Referring to the information as retarded is inflamatory to many although it is considered to be acceptable speach by some. I have worked with developmentally disabled people in the past and the word is overused and often used inappropriately.

I find it confusing that in all of the petland stores I have been to I have received the same answer in the same verbage.

If you do not believe what i am telling you then do some investigation. You are a petland employee. Grab a note pad and go through the files and write down the USDA numbers for each "kennel" that your dogs come from. Go to the USDA website and look them up and do some cross referencing.

I have never nor will I ever infer that you as an individual are lying. If, however, a person tells another person that an animal came from a private breeder and the animal came from a commercial breeding facility or a broker then they are not telling the truth. Whether you have done this or not I do not know. I will have to take what you say at face value. If you have not checked specifically where a particular animal originated and you say it came from a private breeder you may be unknowingly have told someone a falsehood. Only you can determine that.

Now I have done my best here to present my opinion as well as facts. I have also relayed my experiences. Stop by and say hello at the frag swap and we can discuss this. I will do so in the most ational matter possible. I do not enjoy being told that I am retarded as I am not. You can disagree with me if you wish and I have no quarrel with that.

I acknowledge that there is a difference between a true commercial animal breeder and a puppy mill. The difference is that in a puppy mill dogs live in cages that are stacked 3 or 4 high with no bedding and the animals below the top cage are showered in excrement. Females are bred constantly until they die or are killed because they can no longer breed.

I present this information because I want to encourage people to put there dollars in places that are eco and animal friendly. The same as I encouarage people to buy aquacultured corals and tank raised fish to reduce the impact on the reefs. Much like buying dolphin and turtle friendly tuna and shark free products. I like dogs. I bought a puppy milled dog from someone I trusted taking what he said at face value. I did research and what I found out about the puppy industry was appaling.

I am far better informed then you choose to believe.

I will recuse myself from this discussion as I feel that it is no longer constructive. People should research where they are spending their money and shop with their conscience.

Adam

Anyway, I stopped by the Petland and it was setup a lot nicer than it was in the past. I really liked the variety of amphibians/reptiles/'bugs' they had to in the 'to go' containers. I just hope they fully inform customers how to REALLY take care of those animals. The fire salamander caught my eye but at $50, I was tempted to go up to michigan and try to find my own in the woods or something... Hey can't you find them down here too? Everyone was right about the fish section being a bit smaller but it's still nice. I liked the tanks with cleanup crews in them!! Looked like baha redlegs and a lot of turbos.

With regard to the new owners contributions to members on this board I have never nor will I ever say anything negative about that. What he did for other hobbyists was a good thing. It was nice to not allow that equipment to go to waist. The issues are seperate.

Cheers for giving back to the hobby!

Check your attitude at the door. I did "have something to say", and was quite clear in saying it. Read the message I posted again, and follow the advice given in it. Your posting style is unnecessarily antagonistic, and needs to be changed.

eeek, I regret searching for this old thread and reviving it.

Alls I wanted to know is when the store opened, not get into an angry debate :)

Lets discuss something we can all agree upon, Politics and Religion.. Just kidding.

PETLAND LOVES ALL IT'S PETS

I love helping people, and being a part of thier hapiness as we bring pets and people together.

Brian D, the italics led me to beleive that your post had been edited. I disagree that I am being antagonistic.

Comments like well informed my (explative deleted), and calling me a retard follow the same vane as what you are saying.

I have already recused myself from the discussion as stated above.

The "report this post to a moderator" button exists for a reason. I recommend its use in the future.
