That all said anyone interested in a Race night at I-55 raceway.

You aint racing unless you got dirt in your beer!

Me and the ol' lady are planning on taking our 2 girls and 3 16yo cousins to the track.

Maybe around July 11th.

Will have to make some new posts and see if nook can sticky it.

we just got home from talladega a few hours ago it was a great time. even better when its comped . we left thursday its a long drive thats for sure.

left.... go fast, left... go fast, left.... go fast, repeat for 4 hours....

F1 is where the technology is boys...

@tall_jason You suck! I would love to have been there.......

@spooda I disagree...... F1 is where the technology was 4 years ago. I think nascar is way above F1 anymore. Tho I really love the euro rally racing scene.

Although the F1 engines are insane.

eh? KERS? where is that in other racing?

removing 50% of the aero pack and yet still coming close to top lap times from when the much larger v10s/v12s were legal...

running a V8s at 19,000 RPM and not blowing up....

Sorry not meant to hijack the thread.

Jason, were you close to the fence Edwards hit ? That last lap was the only lap I watched and it was unreal. To bad it was a local guy that crashed on the last lap and would of won.

well edwards did come down on the other guy trying to block.

spooda i disagree, there are a number of guys that have done that and indy and all claim nascar is the elite . doesnt f1 have some sort of a rule against driving close to another driver? i could be wrong.

Depends on the technology... I like racing machines that can take a little bump in the track. :D Tecate SCORE Baja 1000

Yeah I know it was Edwards doing but would of been cool to see him win.

Dennis , I couldnt agree more the abuse a baja 1000 truck takes is amazing and would love to go see it someday. Just the fact that you could come over a hill or corner doing 100mph+ and a local could set a trap or a car just pull off a main road that could kill you is a crazy thought.

You're all crazy.:D

Gimme a race that lasts no longer than 12 seconds.

It's over long before anyone has a chance to be bored.

Jason, I bet Talladega was a great time. Got any pictures?

Hijacking with my .02:

As for the technology... Open Wheel cars are at the pinnacle of race car technology, second in speed and handling only to rocket ships and fighter jets. Open Wheel cars have the most thoroughly abused equipment, and is far more exotic in nature as well. Also, I cant remember the last time I saw a Stock Car travel 0-120-0 in less than five seconds and be able to turn both directions well. :D I mean, whens the last time you looked under the hood of a Cup Car- Chevy only recently designed an engine from the ground up for NASCAR racing purpose (and only because Dodge and Toyota did)... up until a few years ago they were using basically the same small block from 1955 that we have all grown up with. Fantastic engines (I've owned them), but not exactly the height of high tech anymore.

Don't get me wrong, NASCAR is cool and I love watching cars racing tightly together and trading paint, but that has nothing to do with the technological aspect of the car, it just means that they have large body shells.

Anyway... These last few years I've been more interested in the ALMS GT1 and GT2 classes. These cars are far easier for me to watch. Their not really the best at anything, but I like watching a bunch of cars mixing it up that somewhat resemble production cars that you could see driving down the street any other day.

BMW Rahal/Letterman Racing Team (GT2):

^Thats not the actual race car, just a clean picture to show it off.

@chad I would love to go someday. There is something about a race where getting lost is your number one fear... a man on top of a mountain is your life line and angel. Heck crossing the finish line 1st or last everyone cheers.

@capo it gets boring after a few hours when you realize the cars are wrapped around the lot just waiting to race.

nascar or F1 I would still go just to see the woman :D

true but how often do you see 150,000 people watch a f1 race in person hell you could add f1 indy and a baja race and it would be close...... i think?

plus the variaty of people is amazing, from camping out in the free section with a 50 dollar tent to sleeping in a 1,000,000 dollar RV . very different people with one love
