Naso Tang problem

I bought this Naso Tang on Saturday. Today I noticed this discoloration along his dorsal area

Does anyone have an idea as to what is wrong and how to treat?

Wow....that was quick

Went to go check on him and found him dead under the rocks......that was quick

RIP Naso...

That was not a healthy looking Naso, even without the blemish. I would caution you against adding a Naso to a 135 gallon tank.

What's wrong with a 135. I had one in a 150 and he had plenty of room if that is what you were implying. He wa about the size of my hand but he was also the largest fish

where is "he" now

I disagree that a 150 gives a large tang like a Naso "plenty of room". They constantly pace in the tank, and I don't think a 4' or 6' tank is close to big enough.

A Naso "the size of your hand" won't stay that way for long.

I'm going to take it back to the LFS where I got it tomorrow and see what they can tell me.

Lesson learned, though, about letting my eyes get bigger than my tank.....

Paul, a fellow reefer had a Naso in a 75 gallon tank :( He quickly figured out the 75 was not an appropriate home, so he asked me to take it. I had a 180 that I wasn't using, so I plumbed it into my system and put the Naso in there all by himself. He was probably 5 inches when I got him, and 6 months or so later when I gave him to Inland Aquatics he was easily 8 inches. He swam from one end of the 180 to the other with one flick of his tail (exagerrating a little, but not much). I knew then I couldn't keep that fish happy. I was even more convinced after snorkling in Hawaii and seeing Nasos as big as a dinner plate.
