I am going to replace the return pumps on my 180. Ther are 2 returns. What pumps do you all recomend for good push and low heat? Seen as i am having a hard time keeping the heat down in my tank.

What else are you using for flow in the tank? As long as you have adequate flow and you are just using the return pumps for your sump return, I would say Eheim 1262 is a good choice. I have a 1260 and I love it; quiet, low heat, affordable and reliable.

for the flow in the tank i am running 2 korelea 1050's. But i think the ones running the return are just your typical petsmart type pumps. I want to get them replacced and i think i am having a problem with the heat in my tank so i need to make sure anything i put in there is low heat.

I am thinking the same thing. I also wonder how much flow is going through the sump right now. What is your sump configuration?

Its about a 40 gal premade sump by ADHI. It has 3 compartments. first i have live rock and some bio ball (i dont like them) second has more live rock and protien skimmer, and third has a sponge deviding it with the return pumps. I have thought about the one pump but didnt know wich would be beter. Do you want more flow with 2 pumps or less flow with one? How would you all do it?

use a laguna 1500 pump, this pump have a high turn over rate (1500 gal/hr) and is very energy efficient and quiet ... mine is running at about 60 watt

Just put a T for both returns and use one pump. This is what I am using for my 210 gal reef tank.

I agree. Great pump, Italian made motor I think, that you can buy for cheap as a pond pump that is probably underrated as far as flow goes and is pretty efficient. I have mine driving a manifold that includes a chiller, BP reactor, Phosban reactor and a separate output to a stand-alone refuge and it still nearly overwhelms my overflow. This all the while sipping about ~70W's. I got mine on Amazon for like $120 and seen them on sale for under $90 occasionally. The only downside is you need to supply your own base, I use a silicon trivet, and glue on some kind of union to the output. The pump is identical to the very expensive, as well as highly regarded, ATB Flowstar 1500.

Here's a photo of how I modified mine:

I love Eheims. You can check out the compact series too......great flow, low heat and you can adjust the flow. Plus, Eheims keep going, and going, and going.....

+1 Eheims are fantastic. I also have a 1260 and there is very little heat.
