Need a reliable light timer bad!!

I have gone thru 5 coralife timers. I have my 2 sets of ice cap T5's connected and one LED set. I have never ever been so frustrated. Luckily, my LFS replaces it with no questions asked. Does anyone know of a reliable timer that has the same functionality as the coralife? This is the unit that I have been going thru for the last 8 months.

Any recommendations? Hopefully something that I can purchase locally in So Cal.

Thank you,

Brock

My best advice to you is to use a digital timer for a saltwater tank.

I was having the same problem as you until i switched to the CoraLife digital timer. I think the salt was eating the gears in them or something.

They are a little more expensive, but since I switched, I haven't had a single problem.

While it's not the same as the Coralife I've been using Intermatic (heavy duty) timers on my tank for months without fail ($8.99 at Lowe's). On one or two occasions they did not turn the lights on but I think it was because the pin was'nt all the way down.

I've been using an Intermatic DT 17 that I bought at HD for like $15 bucks for the past three years.

It has worked great. The lights always turn on.

Thanx guys. I will try the intermatic out. I have 3 sets of lights that need controlling so hopefully this will work out.

You could also spring for a controller. Like the Reef Keeper 2. It controls lights, powerheads, return pump, heaters, moniters ph, etc. I think they are running about 270.00
