Need advice on a super quite pump

fish590a

newbie again
I'm setting up a 75 gal. tank in the living room right next to the TV, I've used Iwaki before and it's way too loud. I hear good thing about Pan world and Eheim, if you have any experience with this pumps, please share your opinion, I would appreciate it.

thanks

Does it have to be external? If not, the Quiet One series are really quiet. I usually have to put my ear near my sump to even hear if the pump is on.........

Steve :D

i have pan worlds and you can hear them.. dont know about other external pumps...

Eheims are really nice pumps, also Oceanrunners put out about the same heat/ sound for about half the price.

Can oceanrunner be run external?

Yes they can. They are super quite and run off low wattage. I love mine!

Sam

a velocity t4 pump 1200gph and considered the quietest external pump in that range. it is stone cold silent...trust me nothing is close except maybe an eheim ..bpatrol

do Ocean Runner pumps lose a lot in head pressure? with the low watt draw it seems like it would... and it's not in the calculator. does anyone have a link to the a loss curve?

Velocity and Quiet pumps are very quiet but they do add heat to your tank. I have a Pacific coast 30 on a tank and it was pretty quiet. Not as quiet as the other two, but it didn't transfer heat.

I have a QO 4000 in the sump with little or NO heat at all form it. I had to raise the temp on my heater to get more heat. Go-Fig
Good pump on perf. and watts use, NOT to good on re-starts I have had a few problems but I think I fixed the problem for now.
Would buy another QO.

I don't know which Ocean runner pump are you talking about. I have the Ocean Runner 3500 i use to mix the salt and that sucker release good amount of heat.

Eheim pump is quite and does not release any HEAT. I have two H&S eheim 1260 running external. it is not even warm whenever i touch it.

I have 2 6000 quiet ones n I love them, make sure you put rubber suction cups under them and they will be more quiet

that's my 2 cents

If there are no external fans, and it is cool to the touch, this means that all the heat it is generating is being cooled by the water running through it. I can't vouch for how much heat they generate, but it is all going into heating the water, however much that is...

There is mod in DIY forum for Iwaki, panworld. By strip internal fan from pump(mayor of noise) then replace by cpu fan + heatsink. I did that --> super quite.
