It seems like every tank is different. I ran a 240 at my old house with Hydra 6 52's. I got good SPS growth and was pleased with everything except the shadowing. I ran them at 70%. I moved to a different state 18 months ago and setup a new 375G 83x42x26. I currently have 6 Hydra 52 and 5 Hydra 52 over the tank. I initially ran the LED's at 50% blues and 25% CW but all my SPS gradually lost all their color or bleached. Over last 2 months I've got my KH locked and turned down my LED to 30%. I checked with a borrowed PAR meter and I'm seeing about 200 at water and 140 midway from water surface. After looking at the Ecotech coral study it seems like you need to target 300 evenly. I've recently stocked about 20 or so frags that seem to be doing OK but I've concerned that I've doing the right thing. As you can expect I fixed my shadowing. Is 140 par too high to start LED off? How fast should I raised light levels?
My actual levels are:
RB 100%, Blue 100%, Violet 100%, CW 30%, R/G 20%, UV 20% ave with high peak for 3 hours. Coral acclimation is set at 70% reduction.
Any insight would be great.
Mike
