Maybe they were looking at the "bubbles" on the "tips"?

Once a week cloning isn't normal for majano or BTAs. Sounds like either a lot of stress or perhaps an overestimation of the frequency of asexual divisions. What are your water parameters?
so are you saying my anemone in question is a BTA or majano?
Agreed. I suspect that something is off, judging by the amount of hair algae in the pic.
Unless your wife is Daphne Fautin, I think you can trust the opinion of people who have kept E. quadricolor for years over her opinion.
no, but she does have a degree in Marine Biology from the University of Miami, so I tend to defer to her for most matters marine.
Not sure what else to say to convince you that what you have is E. quadricolor. But, the column and oral disc look somewhat different in majanos compared to your anemones. In majano anemones, the coloration is more solid, opaque, not translucent as much as in BTAs. The tentacular crown tends to have a more flat overall appearance in majano anemones compared to BTAs. Having seen lots of both species, that's about all I can think of: size, the fact it's hosting a perc, placement of the bulbs, overall appearance including column, and disposition of the tentacular crown. I hope you don't decide to shoot them with Joe's juice or Kalk. Someone would gladly take them off your hands, I'm sure.
That being the case, don't tell her a Florida State grad gave an opinion :lolspin:
