Need help choosing a large pump

I am looking for a large pump for my new setup, and would like some input from those who have already used them. I need something that is rated for a min of 1200gph. Planning on using this pump to run a surge tank so it needs to have a flow of at least 1200gph as I would like to get it to push about 30g surge into the tank each min. It is only going to be pumping up about 5-6 feet of height, and maybe 2-3, 90 degrees bend. I have about 6 I picked out so could you guys chime in if you used any of these and which to stay away from?

1. Ocean Runner 1700gph max 12.5ft
2. Rio Hyperflow 32HF 1920gph max 14ft
3. Quiet One 9000 2328gph max 19ft
4. Maxijet 5500 1384gph max 13ft
5. Mag Drive MD12 1200gph max 15ft
6. New Supreme HY-Drive 1600, 1750gph max 17ft
7. Reefflow snapper 1850gph at 4ft, max 11ft.

Anyone have experience with any of these, and do they really perform to their rated gph? Like I said it has to flow a min of 1200gph, more is better but 1200 is the absolute lowest. I like these pumps as they don't consume that much wattage, plus it is only pumping up about 5-6 ft of pipe.

I had a Quiet One 9000 it sucked. It had trouble starting up and was really loud. I was trying to pump up 11ft. I returned it, now I have a ReefFlow Barracuda, I like it alot.

I had a Quiet One 4000 and hated it! Very hard to start! I actually threw it right in the trash I would for sure go with the snapper

I use the Mag 12 as a return pump (about 5') and it seems higher than 1200 gph - had to tee off the return.

I love the snapper. I would look at the dart for the few $ more. The impeller on the snapper clogged up pretty easy due to the 1/8" slots in the impeller. After I switched the impeller to the dart impeller, no more issues at all. THey are the exact same pump other than the impeller. Also, Its nice to have the additional flow available incase you ever want to change things, feed additional items such as reactors, etc.

As far as the Quiet Ones, I have had two and always had start issues. The Wife Monster beat one into submission when I was away trying to get it to start with a wooden Mallet. Not what I would have done, but never the less, it worked.

Thanks for all the replys guys. Looks like its the snapper or dart is what I will be getting. Checked on marine depot and they are the same price. I might have to T that thing off because thats way too much flow for a surge.
