Need help diagnosing black spots on clownfish

I have read about black ich and also about clownfish having tendency to get black spots from coral stings.

This clownfish developed black spots of various sizes and shapes, rather suddenly a few days ago. Some spots are elongated in shape.
The fish does not seem stressed and is behaving normally, perhaps a bit agitated.

I added a fish from a reliable internet source a few weeks ago, without QTing. Bad I know.

I am setting up a HT now but wonder if it is black ich. I question because the spots are different sizes and shapes.

Hope these show up. Please help!

Hey Dastratt, What ever you have on that clown I just had the same thing on my 3 clowns. Looks exact. I mixed in fresh chopped garlic with my feeding shrimp, for about two weeks. And all the clowns are happy and spot free now. Hope this helps.

ok adam, thanks. I've read that black ich should be treated with formalin. Hopefully this is just the result of coral stings.

A little garlic wouldn't hurt

That is not black ich ... just std melanistic response often associated with contact with corals .. no treatment necessary.

Thanks Kevin.

I released him back into the display tank this afternoon.

It was cute, yesterday I had him in trapped in an acrylic isolation unit, but still inside the display tank -- at night, his mate wedged herself in between the unit and the glass last instead of retreating to their usual sleeping spot at lights out. They did not want to be apart :)
