Need help identifying anemone attacker

I have seen a few portions of the anemone's arms lying next the anemone, and yesterday I saw a good size portion of an arm, and the arm was brown where it was attached to the anemone. Is there a fish/shrimp that is attacking the anemone? Anything else this could be?

Your clowns, if you have any? Have a pair that at one point did bite off some of their anemone's tentacles. They eventually stopped with no harm to the nem.

Of all the fish in there, I doubt it is the clowns as they never go near the anemone!!

Could it be a cleaner shrimp? It is always hanging around the anemone, even when I moved it, but I never see it bothering the anemone.

Shrimp are opportunistic and have been know to eat anemones. They are certainly on the list of potential culprits.

It would probably help if you gave us a list of all verts and inverts in your tank. My long-distance vision isn't what it used to be.

I've had similar problems b4 with one of my anemones, it had a few pieces of its tenticals seperated on the sand close to itself. the culprit for my issue was from a bristle worm that i found beside it one night. i would say keep a closer eye on the tank during different times of the day. I found my mine at night. goodluck with your hunt

Beely,

Bristleworms are detrivores, they will not attack a healthy animal. The bristleworm may have been chowing down on tentacles that had already detached, or it may have been chowing down on damaged or dying tentacles.

i didnt know that, the tenticals werent detached or decaying in any way b4 hand, but ill pay closer attention to it, if it ever happens agian. thx for the info :)
