Need help trying to save clams....How to tell if Lg Clam is dead...

Hi,
I brought home a large clam last night. The reefer whose tank it was in had moved and lost all corals. Had a severe Ammonia spike. I put him in my SPS tank to try to save him. I also have other clams.

I am concerned that he has passed on. Is the clam dead if the mantle is retracted inside the shell, shell open and on one end the tissue has disattached about 1" along the shell. I do not see any reaction to light changes or even moving his shell. I would hate to take him out if he is still viable, but if dead, need to remove. There is also another clam which is doing a bit better, but not great. Any suggestions to help them would be appreciated.

I took him out of the tank, and he did close some, so I put him back. I made sure there were no bubbles trapped inside him. He still does not look good, but I am gonna watch and wait. Thanks for your reply. I will try to get photo later today, I will have to find the photo card and right now it is missing.
