I have a porcupine puffer that has these large spots on her fins. She has had them before for a few days and they just went away on its own. Now she has about 4 spots on 3 different fins. I tried to get a picture of them but they are a shade darker than her fin. It really don't show up that well in the photos. Now the stars & stripe puffer has a spot on his fin. You can see it better in his photo. Can anyone tell me what this is. Could it be saltwater ich? Never had it before but it don't look like freshwater ich. Also yesterday my GSP got a cloudy eye. Does this have anything to do with what is going on with my porc & stars?

The porc's tail, you can see the darker shading on the fin.

The stars & stripe top fin one spot near the bottom of the fin, ignore all the spots under the fin those are his normal spots.

Btw: My water changes are 25% every Wed. I test my water 2x a week. If the nitrates go up I also do a water change on Sunday 25%. I use instant ocean salt and premix in a 30 gallon tub with powerheads and a heater. Also check the water before adding the the tank. I use RO/DI water. The GSP's have been in the tank for about 5 months, the porc was added about 1 month ago and the Stars was added 2 weeks ago. The porc (4 week qt) and stars(5 week qt). Don't know if you need all this info but just in case.

The spots on the fins could be Lymphocystis. This is a viral infection that goes away on its own. Sometimes I think it's just protein build up. It goes away as fast as it came. If the live stock are doing well I wouldn't worry about it to much. The cloudy eye is another matter and is not related to the other one. Probably a minor injury that lead to a bacterial infection. Remove that fish to a quarantine tank and treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic. I don't believe this is a water quality issue. Sometimes depending on the angle and lighting the eye could appear cloudy.

Thanks for your help. The gsp's eye had cleared up today. It was cloudy for a few days. I guess he just bumped it on the lr. I wasn't sure if the spots had anything to do with the eye. I feel better now that I know. This is my first experience with saltwater fish long term. I had a tank years ago but I only had a few seahorses in it. Thanks again.
