Ok im going to be starting a 30 gallon long tank (36x18x12). I'm looking for equipment choices in these categories

1. Protein Skimmer (Budget: $200 Max)

2. Internal Waterflow (Budget : $200 Max)

This is what i have chosen (and want feedback) for the protein skimmer -

CPR Bak-Pak 2R Reef Ready Protein Skimmer

(not sure on output flow)

and for water flow -

2 hydor koralia 1

2 hydor koralia 2

(a total of 2000 gph)

Thanks in Advance

yup only a hang on back skimmer - i won't have room for a sump. I'll be moving to Mt. Vernon

I used an Remora hang-on the back liked how it worked. Used a CSS65 on another tank. The css65 used to be a good deal for the money till they raised the price. Still have the Remora setting around if your interested?

the back pack is not a great hob, neither is the remora. A typhoon from D&D marine is better than either, as is a ps160 from odyssea (aquatraders.com). Both are far cheaper too. The best is a tunze 9010 or bermuda aquatics rouge wave, but the tunze is $330 and the bermuda is $250. Since you are putting up a 30 gallon tank the tunze 9002 would work well, but tunze units fit in the tank, not HOB so that may or may not work for you. The typhoon would work fine and be sure to order the anti-siphon kit from D&D if you get one. In addition check the used forum, you can often get great deals there.
Waterflow looks good, but why not two Koralia 3s instead?

The Tunze 9002 imho would be your skimmer of choice, it takes up very little space in the tank and once broken in is a set it and forget it skimmer, not to mention it is super quiet and never a micro bubble 1 from it

for flow in the 30l 2 Tunze 6045 will fit your budget, I am not a fan of Koralia they are larger and do not offer the customer service that tunze does

Slick - I'd have to think about it. But ill consider it.

Kody - the reason I didn't go with the koralia 3 is because of the 18 inch width. I was thinking 1 in each corner (or there about).

Oldreefer76 - I'll look into the tunze products.

Thanks for all the help everyone, it is very appreciated.
