Need higher turn over rate?

So I have a 90 gallon total water volume. I have 2 since 1200 poweheads and a 951 gph return pump. I run a manifold tho with currently a bio pellet reactor, UV sterilizer and soon to be a JBJ chiller...do u think I need a bigger return pump. Plus my tank is 2 feet tall and at the return pump tubes the water is coming ou but definitely slowly. I keep SPS pls and softies. No Arcos to or Monty. Just alien eye green birds nest, procipolla and a meteor shower as of now...

If you can bypass the manifold and calculate the head pressure that would help. Also by doing that you can determine if your drain can keep up with the return pump. For example if the sump water level drops, you know the pump is sending water back to the tank faster than the overflow can send it back to the sump. Without knowing more specifics I'm willing to bet you can double the return pump size with the manifold. I'd also suggest a DC pump and consider a ball/gate valve above the manifold for added control.

You probably do need more. Replace the 1200s with some flow pumps - Aquamedic EcoDrift are a nice middle between the patent stealing chinese stuff and the higher end stuff like EcoTech of Tunze.

Do not run a manifold with the return pump - any kind of a backup can overfill your tank. If you need a manifold, then use a different pump for it. Chiller should be plumbed to the return line so that it outputs into the display.

In-tank flow is different than through-sump flow. As long as you're getting 500 gph nominally from your main pump it's fine. Agree that things like reactors and a UV are better plumbed to a separate pump. If you meant Sicce voyager powerheads, they are a little on the wimpy side and likely due an upgrade.

I have the return going into a manifold that has 4 union ball valve outlets which currently have a bio pellet reactor and UV on it. Then the manifold goes into the tank. The sump does not get backfilled bc of not enough pressure. I think I should get a sicce 5.0. I currently have 951 gph return and the new one would bump me up to 1300ish...thoughts?

You dont need high turn over to the sump. However its good to hsve high turn over by means of flow (powerheads) in the display.
For sump, anywhere 5-7% is all you need.

So don't be concerned by the lack of flow coming out from the return into the output tubes leading into the DT? I'm not sure the techincal name for them is...the tubes that come out of my overflow and into my DT...
