Has anyone kept these long-term? I've done a bit of research, but have read/heard little from anyone that has kept these or many other box/cowfish for more than a few months. Anyone with YEARS of experience out there???
I'm interested in any information you may have. I'm going to give it a try. Getting a juvenile tomorrow. It will temporarily go into a 20 long, then eventually go into a VERY peaceful planted reef.
I am aware that they can release toxin into the water if stressed or dying, and that they can get rather large (but not as large as the longhorned cowfish!) I also know they need vegetable matter in their diet, and don't need any competitive, aggressive fish in the tank with them.
