hello fellow reefers,

since I finally found a very nice setup for my display, and I can't wait to pick it up today. I also want to prepare my self for a future purchase of a frag tank.

the one I had few years back, I had it custom built in San Jose, but I don't remember the name of the company that build tanks, it used to be around oakland rd. in San Jose.

anyone knows of a place to order a custom tanks that are actually affordable?
I mean I paid around $200 for a custom 4x2x1 with side overflow and it was great!!

this time I need/want a smaller like 2x2x10" or something like that. so hopefully a lot cheaper. :hammer:

you might be talking about All World Marine systems off of 10th st which is no longer in business...it will be hard to get a custom built tank for under 200 tho. If you do find a spot let me know! haha

I recently ordered a custom rimless plexi 48" X 24" X 12"H tank and it was close to $700. Glass was even more. I looked for a local tank builder and wasn't able to find any reputable ones. The old school companies are either out of business or have moved away (TruVu is apparently in AZ now).

Once the new tank is in place I'll be selling my rimless glass 24" X 24" X 12"H tank.

How much would you be asking ?

I knew which place you are talking about, they used to make acrylic tank for restaurant and super market, and some time take order for customer fish tank. the $200 price was 15 year ago. Now a day with $200 you cannot even order a custom sump. There are a some place to order custom fish tank is bay area but none of them really build in house, Kritter maybe the place but I am not sure they still do a small project like that anymore. Just my 2cent. good luck on finding your frag tank.

I usually call a few lfs and see if they have any frag tanks for sale.
Last year I picked up a rimless top 48x24x10 for $80 and it was in great condition after I razored away the coralline.
So that's an option if you don't mind going the used route, just give them a call and ask.

My understanding is that Kritter is no longer in business.

He's actually still in business but mainly deals with commercial size tanks. He might do a custom tank but it won't be cheap and if you are on a short time frame I would probably check with a different company. Never hurts to contact him but it might take some time as well for him to respond.

I actually have found frag tanks on ebay custom built from $150 and up, all in plexiglass and with overflows.

Got a picture of the tank?

Here are a couple...

advanced acrylic from so cal is cool. Nice work and I bought a frag tank from there. Free shipping too

That's where my new tank is coming from. I met John when I was in LA a couple of years ago, and spoke to him prior to ordering the tank -- he is super nice and does excellent work. I ended up ordering through Aquatic Collection so that they can accept the shipment (AA crating it).
