Need new ballast, I think

Saturday my son-in-law was backing a moving van up to the house and pulled the main power supply from the street from my house (I think. I was not there, but that seems to be the best explanation). Any way totally lost one light fixture and on the other two of the three Ice Cap 250w MH ballast are not working. No fuses, reset buttons. So, I am making an order to BRS for Lumatek ballast. Is that a bad idea? Should I stay with IceCap? Does anybody want to join me? I will order tomorrow if I do not change my mind about the Lumateks.

I would go with the Lumatek....Icecap went out of business from what I have heard/read so there is no warranty at all.

cee. had some ballasts. So, my tank has lights again, Thanks for the info about Icecap. I had not heard that.

Thanks Dave

Glad they worked out for you Eddie. You can actually adjust the output of those pretty easily. If you're interested I can show you how someday.

Thanks Dave. That sounds interesting.

I felt so dumb last night. I had three ballasts that were working and then the electrical problem. Like I said before, I lost two of the three. I got your two ballasts. So, now I had three ballasts that were going to work. I connected your two. So, the fixture had all three lights - all connected to working ballasts. The fixture was back in place. I had even tested your ballasts before lifting the fixture back up on top of the tank. They looked good. All were supposed to work good. All did except for the light that was powered by the one remaining ballast. That light was not working. There I stood wondering what I had done to "break" it. The fixture holding all three light was up on the stand now and I did not want to disconnect the other two ballasts and get the fixture down. Then I noticed the problem with the old ballast ---- the light needs to be plugged into the ballast and the ballast plugged into the wall. I had not plugged the ballast into the wall. duh, all work well now.

Are you guys sure you want me to be president. Ha!

Hey, at least you figured it out. I'm sure you were quite frustrated by that point. Last I checked, being electrically-savvy isn't a requirement to being president.
