Need to get rid of this little guy.

So about a week ago I posted that I was looking for a blue spotted jaw. The guys at FAOIS talked me out of it because they can be sketchy fish and suggested a yellow head sleeper goby. So I did just that and really regret it, my water column is polluted with fine sand all day long because of his constant sifting and he drops sand all over a couple of my corals on the bottom (a really nice scoly and a 6 headed multi colored hammer). I spent almost all day trying to catch him, got really close a few times, but couldn't grab him. Does anyone have any recommendations?? Id appreciate it greatly.

I had a similar issue with a Damselfish that for some reason hated my Kenya trees and I had to get rid of it.

I was only able to get him by taking him early in the morning while lights were still off.

I dropped my net in and left it there for a few seconds. I then dropped some food on top of the net and when he went for it and I just raised the net and caught him.

You can also try a day fish trap. I have seen a few online that look cheap and effective.

Good luck!

What was the reason for not getting the jawfish? Im just asking bc ive had mine for about a month, anything i should be concerned about.

Is your tank covered with fine screen? They're notorious jumpers, especially if there's anything in there that could freak them out.

Main thing they jumpers. I haven't had any luck keeping more than one in a tank. Also I've never had one act aggressively towards other fish. The pearlie jawfish are a lot more social. The blue spot is definitely one of my fav fish and I can't stand the sand sifters for the same reason.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I don't have a screen on top. But it looks like the fish trap is my only option. I really would like to keep him because my sand bed looks great and it's a really cool fish. My derasa clam looks like he was standing outside in the snow lol. Should I give him a week so he can possibly sift through the fine particles and possibly have the water clear up?

Thats why they wouldn't have recommended him to you. It would stink to lose him out the top. I was told the same thing.

As far as the dust goes, if you didn't clean the heck out of your sand in the first place, he's probably doing you a favor. I'd give him a few weeks to sift it all out :) If you don't already, run a few filter socks and it will help export all of the dust as well. The only thing i'd worry about are the rocks moving if they're sitting on top of the sand.

If you like the little guy, be patient for a little while and see if the system adjusts for him ;)

I think that is what I am gonna do. And to be honest it looks better than it did yesterday. Oh and btw chad I got the salinity problem fixed and the frags are doing very well!!

I would wait it out I have a diamond goby and he does an amazing job of keeping my sand clean .but yes you need a screen I've found mine in the overflow already if I didn't have the screen he would be on the floor....and the corals on the sand that get covered from the goby they seem to naturally push the sand off of them they are always clean within twenty mins. Cool fish to watch and he helps sift the sand
