did he live in an anti gravitational house? lol jk pic is upside down...free is hard to beat and it being 180 gallon tank,,,scorreeee.....:celeb1:
what are your plans??

Yes.. Uncsalt they are very modern with their house design. Lol once I am home and off vacation I will fix the pics. The best part it wasn't just the tank but all the gear for two 180g reef tanks. The plan at this time is to build it into a wall in my basement (pics soon) with a 55 gallon refugium and a 20g frag tank plumbed inline or offline with the display tank. I will be starting with a shallow sand bed and limited rock work. The rock will be dry with about 20 pounds of live rock to seed the tank. I will start with just a few fish and add corals in time. Tank Update

Tank Update

I started building the tank into the wall this weekend, its aquascaped and is starting to fill with water. Going on 3 days of filling and only the main tank is almost full. I have the 55g refugium and 20g frag tank left to fill. The total water volume of the system will be around 260g when filled.

Finally Circulating

Finally Circulating

I started adding RODI water to the tank and system on Saturday afternoon, finally on Wednesday night I had enough water to start running the pump and moving the water. I plan to start connecting all the filters to the system tonight and will be posting pics of the filter room.

Filter/fish room

Filter/fish room

The filter room for the 180g is getting hooked up, currently there is a 55g sub/refuge, a diy wet/dry filter from previous tank, 15g protein skimmer, GFO & Carbon reactor. Will be adding a UV sterilizer and possibly a chiller if I decided it is needed but the basement stays cool year round. Current lights are 2 MH, 1 LED fixture but have a T5 system to build a fame for and will be adding 6 t5 bulbs to the mix in the near future.

DT Update

DT Update

The DT is fully framed and operational, just needs the finish work completed on the front side which will be a combination of tile or brick facade and a wood been canopy facade which slides out like a drawer. The current in habitants are an Ocellaris Pair which I have had for 3 months. When I bought the clowns they were both the same size but a dominant female has clearly developed. A single cleaner shrimp again about 3 months in my tanks, several blue legged hermits and 7 Astraea snails and one green mushroom coral that was given to me when I had the 29g tank which looked about dead but is regenerating nicely. The critters have been in the tank for 1 week today, as you can see in the one pic the diatom bloom is starting. When I set up the tank I put in 50 to 75 pounds of old live rock and about 20 pounds of live rock that was in my 29g tank. The substrate is 160 pnds of new Aragonite sand. I also had a velvet Damsel in the previous 29g tank but he was relegated to the new 30g refugium.

Lighting update

Lighting update

I have been working on the lighting fixture which is a little DIY and includes 6 60" T5 bulbs separated on 2 circuits and 2 Metal Halide fixtures along with moon lighting for aesthetics only. Currently I don't have any corals except a single softy mushroom, I plan to add some additional hardy softies next friday so I will be able to tell how the lights work once I get them. This is just a start but here is the schedule I plan to run with the lights.

6:30am moon lights on
11:30am moon lights off, T5 bank 1 on
12:30pm T5 bank 2 on with bank 1
2pm Halides on with both T5 banks
6pm Halides off
9:30pm T5 bank 2 off
10:45 T5 bank 1 off, moon lights on
12:30 am moon lights off

T5 Bank 1 = 2 ATi Purple, 1 ATI True Actinic
T5 Bank 2 = 2 ATI Aqua Blue Plus, 1 ATi Aqua Blue Special

Frag tank setup

Frag tank setup

So after several weeks at the LFS to get drilled, then to be broke by LFS when I picked it up, and then had to be replace and re-drilled the frag tank is finally installed. Its a 20g standard tank, I also finished plumbing in the 2 small qt/observation tanks. These tanks are all plumbed into the main DT system but can all be isolated if needed. I also have a 10 gal stand alone quarantine tank. My oldest son will be bringing several frags over today that he has taken off corals in his tank.

I also added two 3ft UV Led strips to the light bar that will only run 2 hours a night to make the corals pop!
