New 240 Gal Tank Pic

Tank is full of water woo hoo!! So far so good. Only thing bad is it's only tap water for now. I'm going to let it sit for a couple of weeks.

What material did you use on the top of the stand before the tank went in place?

Steve

Thanks steve.

I used 1/2 OSB board and then 3/4 Styrofoam insulation.

2 weeks no leaks. Going to be empting it soon, so I get it ready for the big day, I filled it up with Tap water No need wasting RO water. I Still have a few weeks. Have to get substrate, and base rock and I will be ready. Some time in May I'm hoping.

Question would you fill with Saltwater and then put in the substrate?

That is what I would do since you are ot in a hurry, otherwise I would be worried that the "water" in the sand might not get mixed properly with the salt or at the very least take longer to mix.

If you're using live sand, I'd do it after the filling that way you can mix the saltwater in the tank and it's alot easier on that big first filling.

Sand first, then add saltwater carefully....no need mucking up the water quality with sand dust/debris.

No did not get the Hirocks yet. Guessing Monday or Tuesday.

I finished the plumbing tonight.

Started the Hood to house the Lights have it pretty much done. Have to figer out how to hang it on a pulley system so I can get in and out of the tank quickly.

I'm hoping by next weekend I can start filling it up.

Are you planning on adding any trim pieces to the front?

Yes, I'm going to use a 4" trim. I'm going to match some of the wood work that is upstairs on my Fire Place. It will hide the Trim of the tank top and bottom and the sides will also be hiden.

Looks like this

My girlfriend would like the first pic with the clothes in it! She could sit in front of the tank for hours looking at the clothes.:)

Yeah my wife is the same way.. That is why I send her out to go shopping so I can get something done with my tank. :D

Those closet tanks are great. I here you add some coats to get it cycled and then in a few weeks you can add your first coat check girl.
