new 300 dd build

Glad to see you got the tank in one piece, it looks good. Maybe I missed it, but have you.decided what your going to do for lighting yet?

for now going too use the mh that i have and maybe order one more so that ther will be three 400.but trying to decide on led or not havew not made up my mind on that one yet.i like the led but i have never seen them on a big tank unless they are premade pendents.

I have a 300 dd coming as well. Been toying with the light idea as well. Was thinking of 9 linear strips (5rb/4w) cree 3 watters with a very mild arc using some 40 degree lenses on the center 3 strips then running 80 degree on the rest.

I have just started to check into the led lights but i was told that i would need somewere between 150-200 3wat led that would be a 50/50 mix but i guy that i know just ordered some 10 wat blue and white to add to his led set up so i will let him tast them out first.but untill then i will be running my mh but switched them to 220v.

sorry for the up side down pictures 006.jpg

pictures will be tomorrow

ok guys i need some advice on a cl pump

this is what i have now main return pump reeflo hammerhead around (6,000)GPH

was thinking about a reeflo snapper or dart
do you think i should look for a baldwin motor or go with the new style motor??
any advice would be great

Plumbing under cabnit all glued and installed
the mo4,valves,and pump will be in the fish room

The RC overflow calculator estimates that you can only use 2,400 GPH for those overflows, if I interpreted your pictures correctly (I think I saw that the overflow boxes are 7" x 11" yielding 36" total linear overflow surface). Is that right?

It does look like you'll be adding some head on the return pump for your reactors, and the U/V, but if those are the correct dimensions on your overflow boxes, that hammerhead will be WAY too much flow for your overflows.

Can you describe a bit more about the overall plumbing design? You might want to use the hammerhead for the CL and rightsize your return pump.

The hammerhead will feed one 1.5' return line that splits into two under the tank it will also run the reactors uv, 40gallon breeder for a frag tank and a 40 gallon refugium witch will be placed over the reactors and uv.
I did incorperate after the turn through the wall a gate valve back to the sump to valve the return down to the tank.
I had the same problem with the 500 that i just sold and it was pussing water almost 8ft straight up.
