New 630gal SPS Peninsula, NJ

Tagging along. Have you thought about having a glass tank built at your location like Bennytheblenny's build? Seems like an acceptable idea in the size you are looking at.

definitely a good suggestion. I was going to have mine built on site but it was going to cost an extra 2500.

I didn't consider that, I will have an easy access from front of the house through one window opening or if I get the tank on time, wall will be open anyway.

I ordered mine the first week of December and got the tank middle of February. they had some delays due to the holidays and they had one of the panels recut because it was off a little.

I hope I could get it faster than that. Should have any ideas about time and price this week.

Have you thought about AGE? They have some nice tanks & good quotes.

Also, my understanding is that Starfire glass is more scratch resistant than acrylic. True?

true, BUT...much easier to repair the acrylic.

+10000 my new tank got a couple of scratches from when the movers delivered it. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until a month after when I finally got water and lights on it so I had no recourse with the movers. They are hard to see if you aren't looking for them and apparently I am the only that notices them because I know where they are.

any prices yet? Im very curious about what something that big costs.

Lucky that you are going to have a new tank :)

Would a wood stand work for a 800gal tank? or steel is better?

I really sleep better at night knowing my tank is on a steel stand. I am sure wood is just fine but my stand is solid and didnt budge an once all of the weight was added to it.

So, you had your house built with steel?

as a matter of fact it was built with 4 steel ibeams on the first floor and and 2 on the 2nd floor. it's all a matter of preference. not saying one is better than the other.

I was teasing with you...but my 450g is on a wood stand, and I'm not at all worried about it!

I hit enter before completing what I was typing....the previous owner of my house was a plumber and he built this house with no rhyme or reason for certain things. All I know is that when there is a high wind warning...everyone wants to come to my house. :lol2:

mods must have removed that post. I really hate it when I see guys doing that. so much for meaningful posts!!!!
