just add a green tip anenome and it went into a small cave and hasn't came out. I am assuming it's adjusting to the new enviroment. Is this normal? The clowns didn't pay it much attention either.

yes, this is very common. Im assuming you mean a green bubble tip anemone. It may stay in there for a day or two until it adjusts to your tank. What kind of lights are you running? Did you drip acclimate it before putting it in the tank? What type of clowns do you have?

I let it stay in the bag for 30min floating in the tank. I have 4 T5 (2 actinic, 1 10000k, 1 6500k. 2 ocileras clowns

alright well your lighting is sufficient however your acclimation process was really not. Floating an anemone for 30 min only acclimates it to the temperature of the tank. With anemones it is a must to drip acclimate them for at least an hour to really get them to safely adjust to your tank. I suggest reading up a little on this website www.karensroseanemones.com to learn a little more about proper care.

i agree, the acclimation is insufficient, you need to be much more careful with livestock. bubble tip anemones are not a natural host for A. ocellaris, you may get lucky but there is a greater chance they will never look at the anemone.

good luck

this is a pic of it. it was also hosting an ocellaris at the lfs. that's why i was hoping it would host mine.

It might hide for days or keep moving around. Then one day it will find its happy place and be out all the time. Also seem to like to mount its foot in the dark and bend to the light.

I will disagree, while there is a chance they will never host, I think there is a good chance they will with time. I have a pair that although took a year to host my rbta's now they rarely leave and are spawning. I have a single b/w that hosted quickly, in weeks. Don't get discouraged.
These are delicate and need to be acclimated to you tank's chemestry as well as temp. I find it usually takes a week or 2 for them to get comfortable and settle in. When it comes out of hiding post a photo.

agreed. I think there is a good chance your clowns will host your BTA eventually, its just a matter of time..

My ocellaris clowns avoided my RBTA like the plague for months and months and chose an elegance coral that they almost killed. Though just the other day I got them to host by squirting a little bit of chopped krill and mysis into the anemone. All the other fish avoided the anemone but the clowns shot in to get a bite. After about an hour of doing this they started to host without incentive and are still hosting today.

As for the anemone hiding, totally normal, give it time.

I took this two days ago-
