New Australia Harlequin Tusk

From what I am gathering from the information on this thread is..Tusks that are bought from lfs are a lot LESS stressed then the ones bought on line. Being in a bag of water for 20+ hours, really takes its toll on the Tusks. It takes them much longer to come around. The ones in the lfs have probably already been with them for weeks, and have already started eating. So you don't have to wait it out. After all if it wasen't eating yet at your lfs, you wouldn't buy it...right...

Eh...I wouldn't generalize that...I mean, obviously, any fish that is healthy and eating at the LFS is hypothetically preferable to ordering online; however, my little 2" indo came from DD. Ate the first day - yours may still be suffering from the aftereffects of ammonia poisoning due to the drip acclimation if the water did reach toxic levels when you acclimated or is simply taking longer to acclimate because its bigger. These fish are also masterful hunters. It could just be gorging itself on any worms/pods in your sump, tho I think at some point it'll want meatier foods. Good luck! In my limited experience with these fish, they seem tough as nails.

Just picked up my first Tusk at my LFS. Not that price is the deciding factor, but for $55, I couldn't pass it up! Been at the LFS for 2 weeks, and was an aggressive eater in a pretty busy tank. Nice and plump to for its size. Here it is acclimating:

Here it is just after introduction into my 40L QT:

And another shot to show how massive it is compared to a Molly:

Given its price, I am sure it is Indo. Its about 2.0" nose to base of the tail.

Yes but mine and all fish I own for that matter came in a bag of water shipped from online and all eat the same day or the day after acclimation. A tusk from DD should eat within the first day or two without question. They were eating when they left DD. Are you sure all your parameters and flow are good?

All parameters and flow are good.

I know how it should be, but in this case its not. :headwally:

Just took another pic, he does come out once in a while and cruises the rocks. So maybe he is eating any and all little critters he can find.

I just bought the one on DD...will be here Friday. Paid a lot but for a 2" juvi with very nice markings and a 14 day live guarantee I think I did alright.

Yup that's the one, I know its not Australian but my mine requirement is that the fish is healthy and a good specimen of the species...which this one appeared to be

Hey everybody. I started a thread here to show off our fish. Everybody please participate. Then we can see what these fish are like in captivity and the real differences of Indo Vs Australia in Captivity.

Very nice and healthy. There is not shame about having an Indo-Pacific Tusk. IMO, you will find them every bit as attractive as the ones from Australia, given the same healthy and size.

Absolutely. Indos are beautiful fish. I positively love mine, and to think I was going to get a yellow tang instead. lolz :wildone:

Here are a few pics of my Indo HT that I got from DD...he's eating well and seems to be acclimating to the new tank. Right now his only tank neighbor is a blue tang.
