I have mine a 180 mixed reef with a bluethroat triggerfish, one spot foxface, yellow pyramid butterflyfish, yellow tang, tomini tang, kole tang, marine betta, black cap jawfish, royal gramma, and zebra eel. He is fine with the snails but he will eat all the crabs and shrimp.

How long have you had him, and how big is he ?
I tried to get the smallest yet established tusk, and hopes he leaves most of my snails alone. But I know its a risk, and i'm ok with replenishing the cuc when I need to.

Here's mine he is around 4 inches long .he's very well behaved he doesn't take no notice of my cleaner shrimps or my blood shrimp and leaves all my corals alone .food wise mine doesn't seem to like flake food he prefers slightly meatier food and also likes dried river shrimp.

Nice! Have had mine for about 6 months now, great fish. Very curious (can be a dick at times, but never overly aggressive) and is always in your face when looking at the tank, or checking out what your doing when doing maintenance in the tank. Is growing pretty fast so far as well, but the niger trigger is still catching up to him.

Nice ! Yours looks a little older then mine, has more color.
I think it helps if you start off with a smaller one. Not to say he's not going to change, but it kinda of gives you a running start in hope for the best

He's about 5-1/2", was 3-1/8" when I got him at the end of December - so I've actually had him 7 months, but he's been in the DT for 6. The niger trigger went from 1-1/4" to about 4-1/2", he was the first fish I got at the end of November. They grow up so fast! 
They share the tank with a 12" chainlink moray (aka the cleanup crew), all three eat like pigs.
I'll have to get some more recent pictures of him, my avatar pic is when he was first put into the DT in January. My rock definitely isn't that clean anymore lol.

I have a screen top on mine because of the eel, but I've never seen the tusk exhibit anything where it look like he would jump. My tank is 27" tall and he's spends nearly all of his time on the lower half swimming in & out of the caves in the rock.
That said, I'd probably still have the screen top on the tank even without the eel, but that's just personal preference.

Not to my recognition mainly swims around the middle to the bottom constantly searching around when the lights go out I believe it goes under the Sand

Thanks guys ! Seems like there not jumpers, like to hang out middle to low in the tank.
I do already have a screen on my tank.
I plan to put him into my refugium, just to get him to eat and for observation, and also I can remove him if need be. Getting him from divers den, already been in quarantine, I feel good about my chances.

Not know jumpers, but my best friend just recently came home to his male wantanabei dried up on the floor. If it were me I would cover the tank. Look at it as a 20$ investment in a 250$ fish... Plus the rest of your fish
Not IME (but I've only been keeping them since 1973)... more likely wedges itself into rocks

I live in Wilmington NC near the beach and catch mine Ilyanassa obsoleta (hope I spelled that right) and toss in there. Him and my earmuffs wrasse love them. He pretty much ate all my snails but I do still have 2 electric blue hermits for over a year with him. I think the key to keeping snails/crabs with it is maybe get ones larger then he can 30th in one bite? Who knows I still have larger astreas I got from reefcleaners..very cool fish email eek if it eats stuff. I wanted one when I first got in the hobby but was scared of reef safe with caution.... now I'd say my reef is tusk safe with caution. He don't mess with any coral just the CuC but well worth it
