Congrats... Very cute... Glad to hear he's eating![]()
How's yours coming along goreef?
I think he is eating little critters off the rocks and sand. I thing he will soon start eating, or at least i'm hoping![]()
If you can pick up some small crabs or snails, they may get him to eat.
Have you tried adding a few drops of garlic extreme to a diluted mysis cube? That's how I fed mine the first time and he loved it.Thanks for the suggestion....
I do have a lot of small snails....and he may be munching on them..:twitch:

Is he still in qt or in your DT? Maybe be feels threatened by larger fish during feeding? Have you tried feeding him in an isolated environment?Yup, tried extreme garlic. When ever I add a new fish, I usually will add Garlic to their food. Thanks

I want to get a Harlequin tusk, but have some questions:
My tank is predominantly wrasse dominated (to the tune of 14 or so). I also have a small tang (about 1.5"). Will the tusk go and eat the smaller fish? Or are they just fond of inverts (snails, crabs)?

As far as a Harlequin Tusk eating small fish, it is possible, if he's large enough. What I would suggest is getting a smaller one. Also if you don't mind spending more get the Australia one. Better survival rate and more colorful.
As far as your other wrasses, I would do more research, in hopes they would all get along... Good Luck !
My HT is about 8" long, and he has not shown aggression towards any of the small fish, which includes 7 clowns, 3 fairy wrasses, 2 chromis, 1 cleaner wrasse, and 1 coral beauty angel. The only fish that it has shown aggression is a 6" parrot fish.
so from what you know they don't eat any small fish? I googled "Harlequin tusk" and "fairy wrasse" all night while at work, and only saw one post in which someone thinks it may have eaten all his chromis. Otherwise a majority of posts indicated it was a shy fish that would snack on inverts.
Sorry. I'm looking at one literally as I type this. It's about 4-5" long. The lfs fed it a small goldfish, which is much smaller than anything in my tank and it swallowed it whole.I would say go for it.......If you buy him small, I wouldn't worry about him eating small fish at all...
I had a blue jaw trigger fish, and all of a sudden my chromis were on his menu,
so every fish will be different, we just have to take some chances in this hobby![]()
